HOW THE MONSTER BECAME A VAMPIRE

Bathory's name and her family's importance ensured she avoided trial for her crimes, despite the king wanting her put on trial. Instead, she was imprisoned in her castle under deplorable conditions, which is some comfort. This excerpt are her recollections of death and then undeath. Raised from the dead by Anton, the vampire who has fallen in love with her and cannot believe she committed the crimes she is supposed to have committed, has given her immortality.

"Time passed and I suffered, for there were months of unbearable cold. If I felt I would succumb, I soon realized I wouldn’t. Why can’t I just die, I wondered? I begged to freeze to death, but did not. No fire was permitted in my domain, no blankets or coats, the thin blanket long gone, although I did finally have a thin, torn coverlet with the smell of dog urine on it. That stink faded in time or perhaps I got used to it. Spring came. I could tell from the sound of birds I heard. That and the scent of wildflowers that grew along the castle ramparts. I knew the colors to be bright.

Why hadn’t I ever admired such things when I had the chance? My prison was actually warm in summer. What a welcome respite! Autumn less so, for it signaled the approach of winter. Did I expect better treatment? In all honesty, I did not. It was to be endured until the escape by death was at last granted to me. I became ill and old. Yes, finally—though I had no mirrors, old age had at last taken me. I could see the changes. My hair had grown long and wild, uncombed and knotted, but worst of all, I could see the grey.

Sometimes I was observed looking at it. Invariably, a voice would taunt me. “You are an old woman! You are an ugly old hag!” What followed was a string of abuse. Well, what did I expect? Indeed, I had aged. I saw my body as I tried so desperately to keep clean. I’d see my withered breasts, hanging like lifeless things. My skin sagged all over my body. I had a stink, too, as it was impossible to bathe. The best I could do was to use some dirty water I was given to drink. Wetting a rag, I’d try to keep myself clean. Only once or twice did I think of those other baths I used to have—one of countless murderous sins that had condemned me. Regret was still new to me and remorse newer still, but because I had horrific hallucinations and fits once again, when sensible, I was thoughtful about what I had done.

If I can recall a last moment of life, I suppose it would be the feeling of dizziness. I was standing in my quarters, then suddenly unsteady on my feet. I tried to grab hold of something, and fell forward with great force. There was pain...but it did not last. Blackness overwhelmed it.

There is nothing in my memory after that except just finding myself in a shadowy place. At first I thought I was dead. But then I saw you, my love, looking at me. “I am Anton...” you said. “And you must drink.” You raised a goblet toward me, plain and unadorned. I shook my head but you persisted. “You must for you will die in agony if you do not drink...”

About My Work and Me

Sasha when she came into my life!
It's been a long battle and I'm winning. Many of you know that I suffered a life-changing event, the death of my husband just three years ago. I've had gains and setbacks since. Good days and horrible days. But I'm still here and still fighting. New work is coming, I'm writing it so I know, it's just taking long.

Thank you for your interest in my work. If it hadn't been for that, I'd just have stopped.

I hope to be blogging regularly. And I will make it as interesting as I can!

Here's a post I did some time ago, but it's pretty relevant:

If you have several books out, you are going to face this dilemma often! Imagine what Stephen King goes through! Okay, I can't either. But he doesn't have to push! I do, you do, most of us do.

So which of my books do I target? I have my series, The Blackstone Vampires sold singly (each book)--The House on Blackstone Moor, Unholy Testament - The BeginningsUnholy Testament - Full Circle and The Fourth Bride (of Dracula). The series is sold as a box set as well: The Blackstone Vampires Omnibus.

My publisher, Creativia decides when the books are on promotion, by the way.

Justine: Into the Blood is also out as are House of Horrors and Circus of Horrors .
My newest release is I, Bathory Queen of Blood, the real life 'Countess Dracula', born Erzsebet Bathory, a countess with absolute power, she bathed in blood because she believed it would keep her from aging. She did a lot more and the book comes with a warning! She is my fave villain now! And as a new release, I am busy promoting.

This is done along with reading and working on my WORK IN PROGRESS. Everyday I sit down at my laptop and wonder which I should target. It's not an easy task. I try to make my posts as interesting and spam free as I can. I also feel readers don't want constant in-your-face 'BUY MY BOOK' stuff that's why I very often offer free reads. Each story I offer has appeared in an anthology.

I almost always promote Circus of Horrorbecause it's close to my heart. It's a horror novel with murderous clowns (among other quaint characters), but as my novels are character driven, and I am fussy about motivation, I gave reasons for the murderous mayhem. Given enough abuse, especially in childhood, the victims are damaged. How they handle the effects of that damage gave me their individual stories.

So there it is. And by the way, this is my author page at Amazon which not only lists my novels, but the anthologies I am published in as well!

ps Sasha does help! She is my friend and my muse!

Well, here I go! Happy reading and writing, all!

VAMPIRE SALONS WERE QUITE THE RAGE!

Countess Erzsebet Bathory was a sexual sadist and mass murderer in 16th Century Hungary. She was vicious. She is said to have killed upwards of 200 serving girls. Unfortunately she believed, despite being well-educated, that blood was the elixir to youth. This novel of mine asks the question, what if she became immortal and lived on!
Excerpt:

Salons were quite the thing and vampire salons were even more popular! More recollections now of vampires behaving badly or behaving as vampires!

"Time passed easily for us. We had a home and friends. It was a comfortable feeling. We attended parties and soirees. Jacques invited us to his biggest event of the year, just before All Soul’s Day—a kind of vampiric Halloween for us. Things did get out of hand, which was not something completely unexpected. But, it was not as wild as it could have been.

We didn’t change partners. Although Jacques asked to watch us while we fed and copulated. I have to admit it was exciting, feeding in our sensual way. And when he came over and began to fondle me as I fed, I was pleased that you didn’t stop him. I did think, rightly as it proved, that you’d give him privileges. He was such a good friend to us both now and he’d advanced so much money we were able to enjoy a rich undead existence.

Of course, things always turn out differently than one thinks, for soon, we had him in our bed on a regular basis. The bad thing happened, though I wouldn’t have guessed, when he began to bring that young singer, Pauline, around. That’s when I feared I would fall back to my monstrous ways. You see, I felt jealous of her—of her beauty and her creamy skin. I was jealous even watching Jacques feed. And when you asked if you might join in and I agreed, I wanted to destroy you! I thought you’d guess, but you didn’t.

I did manage to keep myself under control until, one night, Pauline annoyed me. I had watched her brush her long hair and the look on both your and Jacques’ faces made me furious. As strong as you both are, neither of you could pull me off as I drained her. She was gone in moments, her skin white as human death and as cold as stone. And even in that state, there was a beauty to her, so perfect were her features.

You tore at my hair and beat me. This was the first time you raised your hand to me. You called me a beast and I laughed, although I agreed. Our fighting went on for what seemed like ages. All this while Jacques wailed for his human. He’d had real feelings for her, so he raised her right there. I was shocked; for some stupid reason, I didn’t think he would. After she was turned, she was different for now, she’d become a voracious vampire. “I am glad you did this for I have wished it for a long time,” she said. I ran from the room, down the halls. The fact that you didn’t rush after me bothered me. That was why I grabbed the first vampire I saw. That young boy called Marco..."

"HORRIFIC VAMPS & A GREAT STORY!"

A little basking today! The title for this post comes from a reviewer. It comes at a time when I've questioned the darkness in my novels, especially since my husband's sudden death and particularly concerning my latest release: I, BATHORY, QUEEN of BLOOD, so this was terrific news. From a reviewer, link follows:

"5out of 5 stars HORRIFIC VAMPS & GREAT STORY!!!

With regard to this novel, The Author's Note appears in the beginning which is not usual. It is placed there as a warning. I felt it was only fair for people to know before they bought it.

Countess Erzsebet Bathory was a human monster who did exist. She was probably one of the most evil human beings I know of. I did not want to water her story down. I read a novel that did that, which inspired me to write truthfully about her.

There are indeed human monsters among us.

My novels always have an extra ingredient. Something that makes each character unique. At least that has been my aim.

At the core of this book about Bathory, is the question of her immortality. Immortality, after being created as a vampire. Now, this monster will live for centuries! Knowing this, she wonders if she will be different as a vampire and just focused on the feeding, but she soon finds out she is the same old monster.

And to her surprise and dismay, she sees as the centuries roll on, she is just another serial killer!

I was discussing horror, true and not, with a friend of mine and she said we seem to become ever more numb to its effects. We get used to it, I guess. I think that's right.

An infamous monster, living forever, would very possibly not be looked upon as such a monster when there are so many. Sigh.

Exotic Offerings in Victorian London

Bathory and her creator, Anton, might be vampires, but they know what's lucrative and what isn't. Here they find themselves in Victorian London. They are determined to open up a very special emporium, offering unique pleasures. They discover an underground network of like-minded merchants, known to provide anything for the right price.

"HERE WAS something so deliciously low about Dark City, so thrilling it proved quite an aphrodisiac for us. A few of our coven didn’t wish to be there, so they left—but most went along with us. The place was as it was. We knew it would never look as good even as our brothel on Russell Street.

There was nothing we could do about the dampness, the wet walls, or the dankness. The air was stale and harmful, but we knew ourselves to be immune to any sort of illness of that nature. I discussed these issues with Ponsonby and he said his lungs weren’t what they had been, which proved to me he had been addicted to that underground garden of vice for years.

We brought furnishings and fixed it up just to a very basic standard. We added mirrors and cushions. Well, these are a must in brothels, fancy or not. You had the idea to extract and install much from the playroom, including some rather interesting punishment devices. We got a lot of attention from our competitors, who were quite impressed with the variety of implements we had. A certain Mr. Dane enjoyed being flogged by our vampires.

This we did in a sectioned off place you had created so there would be anonymity. Dane enjoyed it so much, he’d pay us whatever we asked. We found out later that he was a diplomat from Denmark.

The more we got to know him, the more we became used to his requests. He was involved in so many sexual perversions, it quite amazed both of us. Still, we provided what he liked. Suffice it to say, he kept us on our toes because he paid us well for his entertainments. It all was working out well. We both agreed. What we could never get used to was the notion of staying there all the time. So we’d travel back to our mansion. Our coven went, too. They didn’t want to stay underground for more than several hours at a time.

Our new venue encouraged us to permit lethal draining as it was so easy to dump a corpse in the river. That proved quite exciting to us both as we had not indulged ourselves for some time..."

The Immortal Bathory and Film!

As Bathory continues to exist, she sees a world she feels more comfortable in, one in which  there is increasing scope for her depravity and fantasies. One can even make money in such a world!  So it is when she and Anton discover the dawn of motion pictures...!

EXCERPT:

"We frequented great nickelodeon palaces on Union Square, remember? We saw our first films in little machines that you looked into. It was all so primitive by later standards. We met a man who impressed us by saying he knew how to make celluloid photographic films.

We had him over to show him what we did.

“I suspected you were different,” he said. Well-chosen words, I thought. We showed him our playroom and asked him if he’d care to stay the night. He said he’d love it.

By that time, we had a different coven with some very beautiful females and males. As we didn’t know his preference, we offered him both kinds. He loved the females. We sent in two and didn’t hear a peep out of him until the next night! They fed on him and though he laughed about it, he kept rubbing his cock. “I won’t be using that for a while,” he said.

It wasn’t long before he suggested the most amazing thing to us. “I venture to say,” he said. “You both look like good business people. Have you ever thought of using film on your premises?” Film? What would we do with that, we said?

But then I noticed the excitement in your eyes. “Damita! Think of it! All that goes on here...we can film it!” It hit me then. The fucking and feeding. The orgies—all of it on film! I agreed. We made plans after he told us all about his techniques. “I will be an observer,” he said. “Speak to your performers...” What a wonderful word! Performers. You thought we should let all of them see this invention..."

Excerpt of an Intimate Encounter!

Countess Bathory was real. She held absolute power in 16th Century Hungary. She was a notorious sexual sadist and mass murderer who believed blood was the elixir of youth. What if she became immortal and lived forever? That's the premise of my novel, I, BATHORY, QUEEN OF BLOOD

ADULT READING AHEAD!

Bathory and her creator and lover Anton and a sexual encounter...

"He took the liberty of running his hands over my breasts. When he noted the look of annoyance on your face, he asked if he could continue, whereupon you told him to carry on, which sounded very uncaring. You rushed out of the room then. Anton, I was furious. I was given some blood wine mixed with something and fell asleep. I woke to find myself alone with Jacques, who was smiling down at me. “I’ve had you and I am glad,” he said. “You look like a daring woman, I have to say. Game for anything?”

I didn’t know what he was talking about, but soon would, for Jacques was so like Frenec, my husband, who’d enjoyed having sex while he inflicted pain..."

99 cents Sunday - Saturday I, BATHORY, QUEEN OF BLOOD

Countess Erzsebet Bathory was real. She is history's notorious 'Blood Countess.' A sexual sadist and mass murderer, she believed bathing in blood was the secret of eternal youth. She killed hundreds of serving girls in order to bathe in their blood, but she also enjoyed torturing them. She was a human monster of that there is no question. But what if she was turned into a vampire and thus became immortal? What then?

That is what this novel is about. Her creator and then lover, Anton, does just that. And so an immortal blood monster begins to stalk the world!

AN EXCERPT:

"For the first few years, my sole focus was on you. There was no one I wished to be with more. But then, in time, something began to happen, to take hold of me. My worst fear was realized, for now, after so many years, I once again wished to kill. Not for feeds either, but for pleasure. For torturous delight! All the old urges were returning and I found myself powerless to do anything about them.

Once, when you left to visit Jacques, I gave in to those murderous desires! Your coven had followed him to Brussels so you left me in the care of Lucerne. “Take good care of her,” you told her, and she promised she would. How were you to know what would happen? When I told her how I longed to hunt for prey, she looked thrilled.

She confessed she liked doing that although she had never done what I had. You see, Anton, I had told her who I’d been in life! You eventually found that out and nearly destroyed me for lying. But in time it became just one more lovers’ quarrel. I soon discovered something new. It was more fun acquiring prey myself. Nothing gave me more pleasure than getting my own victims! Sometimes I’d go to their homes and gain entrance by asking if I could come in. A lady in distress, they thought, poor gallant fools—and so they asked me in.

In a matter of moments, they were drained. Once, Lucerne and I went through five adult males. Handsome they were, naked and drained..."

An Audition For A Blood Club

Bathory, now an immortal vampire, has existed for centuries. In modern day New York, she and her lover and creator, Anton, own clubs that offer unusual entertainments. After World War 2 vampirism was made legal. This excerpt concerns an interview at her club:

I was to interview new performers for our blood club. You had already interviewed them. I was pleased for I knew if they got past you, they would be suitable. They looked attractive. Full-lipped and sensual, both of them. They greeted me respectfully, which I liked. “You wish to work here?” I asked. They did. “You must be up to it.” “We are,” they assured me, speaking in unison. I invited them to perform an audition.

“There is a girl waiting. She knows what is expected.” Then, glancing at you, I smiled. When you smiled back, I knew it was going to be a successful audition. The girl was lying on the bed, naked, patiently waiting. We sat at a table. “You may begin,” I spoke pleasantly, and not with the tone of an order, which in reality it was.

After a few moments, our applicants appeared. I was pleased they’d shed all their clothes. Some vampire actors really are a waste of time. These two weren’t. They were handsome, too. The woman had full breasts, not artificially enlarged but naturally full, which is so much better for our purposes. The man was already erect and holding himself. He was quite endowed, but not too big.

Then, in the most graceful of movements, they fell upon the girl, their hands and mouths moving slowly over her body, paying particular attention to her breasts and the area between her legs. I began to touch myself as I watched, aroused.

You leaned over and whispered, “Je t’aime,” as you reached into my blouse to touch my breast. “Not now,” I said. You sighed to show me how disappointed you were. You are such a manipulator. They would feed now. Some blood oozed out as they bit into the girl’s white flesh. She responded by crying out in a mixture of pain and pleasure. That was good. I made a note. They knew enough to feed gently. She started to tremble and moan but that was because Danielle was always responsive. I had taught her to be; that is, you and I both did. These applicants fed for quite a while. I stood up to catch a better view. We didn’t want something untoward happening.

You realized I was worried and mumbled something that sounded reassuring. They changed places once again; this they did a few times. The feeding had excited them and they were in no rush to finish. I went to make certain Danielle was all right because there was a great deal more blood now. She saw me and smiled. “I feel good,” she said.

I smiled, grateful to have such a professional human performer in our special theater. You were watching us. When I looked up at you and saw your demeanor, I understood. “If you would care to spend the evening with us, Danielle,” I said, “it would be a pleasure to have you. Lucerne will be there.” What a leading comment that was. She was delighted. The two had been lovers for a long time. As for our new performers, they had already been summoned to see you. You would tell them when to report and how they were going to be compensated. As vampires they not only fed pleasurably, but they would be financially compensated..."

A Vampire Gathering

Bathory, now a vampire, remembers the first 'entertainments' her creator and lover, Anton held for her. This is an excerpt of one such occasion.

"What a gathering it was. There was music, too. The musicians were dressed in finery, and they, too, were vampiric. Then, when it came time for the celebrations, human men and women came forward. They kissed all of the coven members. Then, they undressed.

When they were naked, they were swarmed as the vampires began to feed from them. It was arousing to see. I was quite excited by it all and wished to partake. That is when you said the important thing is not to drain the human supplicants... you stared at me a rather long time when you spoke those words. I took it to be an admonition of my living life, which you were justified to make.

A number of females greeted me afterward, many looking longingly at you. I knew they were your lovers and wondered if they always would be. I soon had my answer for the revelry lasted four days. More feeds and worship, as you explained it. “Worship is the act between individuals of our species. Whatever their sex, they feed and copulate, sometimes at the same time. Such things are never wrong for our kind, my love.”

With that, you brought a dark girl toward me. I know her now as Lucerne. She called me to her. “I am an offering for your enjoyment,” she said as she disrobed, revealing an exquisite body. She was vampiric, yet I was worried. What if I fell into a jealous rage and drained her deliberately? I would have to subdue such feelings..."

Recollections of Lash Lady!

Having been created as a vampire, Bathory finds a changing world where she is able to provide special services to those who wish it. Apparently, business was never better!

READER BEWARE NAUGHTY BITS AHEAD!

WE WERE glad to have Jo and Bill, whatever state they were in. The trip was very enjoyable. We spoke and got to know our new friends in all sorts of ways. No one was jealous either, especially me. If we changed partners, we did it with dignity and were good natured about it. Johann liked Gisele rather a lot, and when he asked her to whip him, I was quite astonished and pleased that Wentworth didn’t mind. Johann had the time of his life, after which he told me I would make a wonderful Lash Lady.

“That is what you should call yourself! I give you my blood, Lash Lady—all you require!” I liked the name and what he said. And really, being food for vampires is just about the most submissive role people can have. I think I referred to it as slave then, which he liked. We discussed so much. I began to recall our playrooms and the equipment we had. We discussed Sebastian and his penchant for whipping and bondage. He always said I’d be a natural.

We did have some fun in our stateroom as well, do you recall? I was dressed rather provocatively, bare breasted except for a kind of mask you rigged for me. Johann’s wrists were tied and I whipped him. But then he stopped me and said, “No, you have to say why you are doing it.” It really was a game! So I went along. “I am whipping you Johann so you will be a good boy. I must punish you for acting weak. You have no control!” This I said as I held his erect penis. “There! You see how you cannot control your emotions. This is a test.”

I nearly started to laugh, but I controlled myself. As I thought Eisel could be a problem during this, we had her go off with you and Wentworth. Gisele, who’d also joined you, told me you had quite an orgy. Someone even complained about the noise! Johann was an enigma to me. Here he was, a tall, handsome man—looking like a Norse God—and he enjoyed being whipped. I wanted to ask him why but thought it would spoil the fun for him and make me look silly, so I didn’t.

Rather, I thought of variations on the whole thing. I would whip him and admonish him. Then, I’d whisper endearments as to how I didn’t wish to hurt him. But if he wept, I’d slap him. Oh yes! He quite liked having his buttocks slapped. He also enjoyed being fed on as I whipped him. This, Gisele did when she got bored with the orgies. He’d cry out with insane pleasure. It was really the most amazing thing. It wasn’t long before we spoke about the whippings. You said we would continue as we had. “But,” I said, “we have to get a lot wilder with it. We must use our imaginations and even film our clients...masked, of course..."

Bathory's Vampire Friends Were From Prestigious Backgrounds

Bathory was probably a snob both alive and undead. That was the least of what she was! With regard to her  immortal friends, those vampire 'buddies' of hers, some looked like what they really were, That was the reason there were so many masked balls!

Lucerne, an immortal friend
Excerpt;
"Lucerne came from a noble family. In fact, you told me most vampires did. Vampirism had grown steadily in France since early medieval times. You showed me a book, one of hundreds in your library. I had never seen such a collection of books and atlases. You said that the returning Crusaders brought vampires back with them. Some were taken as curiosities to be exhibited.

“No one considered the ramifications of it then, but when there began to be an interaction between both species, that was something that would have grave consequences.” You were by far the most intelligent person I had ever known. I was enthralled by you. You knew this. You knew also that I would find the sexual proclivity of the vampire, its natural wantonness and need for sex and feeding, to be perfect for me. I remember thinking I was in my element.

Those early days and nights of my turning were filled with blood lust and passion, feeds and sex. But, in truth, after a while, I wanted only you, my love. That is how I had been changed. Of course, we both know that did not last. Still, I am sorry I corrupted you, for I know I did. Or did you wish it? Let me continue on; perhaps the answer will be forthcoming.

I remember being pleased when Jacques said he wished to speak with me. He was your greatest friend, as well as your creator. “I am like his father for I gave him unlife. That is a kind of living.”

We spoke of so much while you slept. He told me of his living life in ancient times and of love affairs, too. I could tell he was choosing his words carefully, for he did not wish to be offensive. Funny, don’t you think? I found I quite preferred him speaking of you.

When he told me you had saved him as much as he had saved you, I wept. “Sometimes, that is how it is, one vampire saving another. The living call it kismet. I think of it as a gift of the blood. A vampire’s existence is not an easy one,” he admitted. “Most of us tire of our existence. And when we do, if we are fortunate, we find a reason to go on.” He said he had because of you. “When I created Anton, I had to help him in his new world and in turn, this helped me as well.” As he spoke, I wondered what he knew of me. But then he confessed he had quite some knowledge. “I knew because Anton said where he was going and why.”

I turned away, for I could not face him. “No, you must accept it all, Countess. It is your fate. There is nothing to be done about it. Perhaps your transition will be more to your liking...”

Vlad, Never a Gentle Lover Is Now a Vampire!

The madness had always been with Bathory--yet if Anton brought her love, Vlad enflamed the darkest part of her desires...
More recollections from Bathory written for her Creator, Anton who is in grave danger.

Excerpt:

"He took me roughly, his passion so great, he whispered he could not control it. I don’t think he tried but I must say that while I felt his lips and teeth tasting me, I didn’t care. He had once told me there was pleasure in pain and I hadn’t agreed, but now, after so long, I did. He must have fed and pleasured me for hours. Truly, I lost track of the time. I did know there were others watching, vampires of both sexes, for that was how Vlad was.

Some joined in, but they quickly retreated when Vlad drew his head up and told them to leave, for I was his alone. “I will not give you up again. Not willingly!” he cried. I said nothing. All I could do was lie back and feel all that I was experiencing. I have been yours, Anton, and if a vampire can feel love, I have felt it with you. This was different, and more in tune with my monstrous beginnings.

Vlad was a dark addiction, and his hold was overwhelming me. I wondered if I could go back to you! I think he guessed at my thoughts because he smiled and said there was nothing as exciting as the co-mingling of vampire blood.

He ran his hands along his chest and lifted his penis, still massive in its flaccid state. It was streaked with blood. “You have marked your conquest,” he said..."

Vlad's Lessons in Lovemaking!

Here are some more excerpts from the novel, I. BATHORY, QUEEN OF BLOOI, BATHORY, QUEEN OF BLOOD.
Here are Bathory's recollections, now as she recalls her dark but very pleasurable time with Vlad...!

"You had raised me from death and loved me. I knew you did. We shared a passion, dark though it was—it was still love. But with Vlad I felt I had come home. For here I’d found a sexual monster like myself!

You see, again, there was nothing but him. No touch but his touch. And when a wench broke in and began pleading with him to love her, he merely laughed. She was beautiful. I’d always hated in my living life those younger and more beautiful than myself—and I hated this wench! Even with the scars on her face—I hated her and the jealousy took over. I felt the old rage rise up, that murderous darkness; like another entity, it began coursing through my body. Vlad was watching me, but I barely noticed—all I wanted to do was hurt this trollop.

She sensed my emotions and backed away. “Please,” she cried. I threw myself upon her and started to bite her! This I had not done since I lived. The other wenches tore at me and pulled my hair. I flung them easily away. As they hit the wall, they screeched and Vlad laughed. The rest of what happened is a blur.

Even at the time, I could not recall what occurred. I remembered nothing until I found myself and Vlad bathed in blood. Three wenches hung over his bath. Each had been drained. Though vampires, they were no more. I was shocked.

Vlad looked amused. “When will you know what you are? When? Give into what you enjoy, what pleases you!” He was right and I knew this. Afterwards, we wiped the blood from our bodies and we lay together, finally falling asleep. If I expected to dream of passion, I dreamt of blood instead..."

Meeting Her Creator, Anton!

Countess Erzsebet Bathory really existed. Holding absolute power in 16th Century Hungary, she could fulfil all of her monstrous deviant fantasies. When she finally dies, in her walled up castle, she is raised by one who loves her and cannot believe what has been said. Anton, her creator, shortly becomes her devoted lover.

In this excerpt, she is recalling everything she can in order to save him centuries later, from being destroyed for he is close to the great abyss from which no vampire returns.

"There is nothing in my memory after that except just finding myself in a shadowy place. At first I thought I was dead. But then I saw you, my love, looking at me. “I am Anton...” you said. “And you must drink.” You raised a goblet toward me, plain and unadorned. I shook my head but you persisted. “You must for you will die in agony if you do not drink...”

As I saw the goblet come closer to me, I smelled the saltiness and tried to push it away, but you said, “It is my blood...” Raised Calvinist, I knew enough of the Catholic faith to be reminded of the Eucharist. Take this, all of you, and drink from it: this is the cup of my blood, the blood of the new and everlasting covenant... I looked at you and you looked the part! Could it be the Lord? I wondered. Was I forgiven, after all? My many murderous perversions? Was that possible?

Perhaps this was all part of some miracle! I watched you carefully. Handsome with high cheekbones, your eyes intently gazing into mine, you were imploring me to drink. Were you a priest or perhaps the Son of God?! Then, as if hypnotized, I took the goblet and drank. You were pleased I did and told me. “You are safe now...” I recall nothing else after that. Only the feel of your arms as you carried me to a pallet and told me to sleep. “Sleep, my lady, and dream of your new world. The one which has been waiting for you.”

The dream I had was confusing, just an intermingling of shadows and voices, each indefinite, the shadows fuzzy and indistinct. The voices were mere whispers, although I thought I recognized some of them: Darvulia’s and possibly even my mother’s. My mother’s sounded angry and it frightened me, though this did not surprise me. Darvulia’s was kindly. The sound of choked tears dominated her tone. The dream continued and I heard whispers that seemed to come from indistinct people calling to me, encouraging me onward, calming me. Reassuring me. I felt as if I was floating, I am quite certain of it.

Then you spoke, or at least I think it was you. “You will become used to your new world...just don’t fight it.”

Bathory Was a Natural Dominetrix!

This excerpt has an introduction. I love the 'what if' scenarios we use in writing. What if a sexual sadist and mass murderer (like Bathory) became immortal and existed in modern times? What would she be involved in. Well, I envisioned her owning and performing in her own private clubs that she and her lover and creator, Anton operate.

She'd be a natural dominetrix! Masochist clients would enjoy what was on offer with the extra delight of being fed upon by vampires. Vampirism has become legal after World War 2 so it's most convenient.

Excerpt:
"As it turned out, it was a success. We were all pleased and the prostitutes—both male and female—quite enjoyed being fed on. I have always found that amazing, the fact people enjoy it. Well, if I am honest, it is a highly erotic thing, being fed on by a vampire.

We both have experienced this pleasure, wouldn’t you say? We used our special room a great deal, the one fitted out with chains and the like. As we had already explored the sexual thrill of such instruments, we knew others would share our fondness for them.

The words submissive and dominant were a century away and thus, we used different words for such things. Master and Slave I think were the most popular. Some of our clients asked to live with us. Neither of us saw anything wrong with that..."

THE MONSTER REMEMBERS

Bathory was all too real. She was a mass murderer and sexual sadist with absolute power. Her life reads like a very dark horror story. What I have done in my novel is have her raised from the dead to become a vampire. After all, she was a natural for it. This excerpt is of her recalling her living life:

"Sometimes I’d see a girl younger and fairer than another, and I’d want her whipped and tortured, either by me or Darvulia. “Are you pleased now, my lady?” I’d sigh more often than not and say I was bored.

“I will make you happy!” she’d cry out. Always eager to do my bidding, she’d show me new punishments, each more painful and sadistic than the last. When she said a demon had disclosed to her the secret of immortality and beauty, I was beside myself with joy. When she told me it was to bathe in young maids’ blood, I was horrorstruck.

Could it be true, I wondered? I asked her this question. In order to test it, she grabbed a girl and slit her cheek open. “I will rub some blood on your face...!” This she did. “There now! Behold!” she said.

I looked into my mirror and saw how much more radiant my skin looked. “Think how you will look if you bathe in it!” That was how it all started. Those baths of blood! Yes, Anton. It was done! Girls were chained above my bath and sliced open—their bodies soon drained. When the tub was full enough, I’d climb in.

“Luxuriate in the blood of youth. It will go into you and change everything!” It did! I felt so different. I actually tingled; somehow, all the care and worry of the past left me—making me feel as though I had been turned into a goddess! The baths would have to continue. More girls would be bled and I didn’t care.

What difference did it make if there were fewer peasants in the world, I reasoned? I was the goddess of my own world. Do you know what it is like to have absolute power? To have no one dare to refuse an order. Not that I needed that. I had willing accomplices, perhaps more evil than I! This darkest of periods encouraged every perversion one could think of and blood was at the center or it. Blood and pain and sex..."

99 CENTS! NOW THRU - SUNDAY 9/18 'I, BATHORY, QUEEN OF BLOOD.'

Cachtice Castle, Slovakia

I once read a novel that made Countess Erzsebet Bathory 'good.' When I read that, and stifled screams as I didn't want to frighten neighbors or family, I knew what I wanted to do. This was about the time I had just begun to write for publication. I know that because Bathory began to appear in some short stories of mine. The reason for the stifled screams was that I had read a number of books about what the real Bathory had done. I looked her up in the library and on the internet. In fact all over the internet. It was serious researching I was doing. Nothing less would do. I just had to know as much as possible.

The novel was started about a year and a half ago. I was just finishing it when my husband suddenly died. It took me ten months to just read through it before it went to my editor and then onto my publisher.

Tough year, murderous. Perhaps, as this is the darkest work I have ever written, it was a portent of things to come. It is possible, anything is possible. I'm a big believer in that.

The months pass, I am at last able to send it to Natalie G. Owens, herself an outstanding author and also a great editor. She returned it to me, with a suggestion. Basically, she suggested I include an Author's Note explaining what makes this book as controversial as it is. I agreed and wrote one. But instead of placing it in the back of the book which is usual, I asked for it to be in the front. Why needlessly shock readers I thought.

So here it is:
Author's Note

I feel it is incumbent upon me to add a note to this novel. Initially, when I first thought of writing about Countess Erzsebet Bathory, I feared I could not. How can someone write about such a monster and from her point of view?! I have to say some of the text verges on the obscene and is certainly controversial yet let me say that much of the torture I depicted was a kind Bathory actually condoned (and participated in herself).

Still, I felt the only way to write about her was to be honest and provide realism, not a watered down version of this real blood monster, despite the fact some parts of her life and exploits were omitted. That is what I endeavored to do. Countess Erzsebet Bathory, The Blood Countess, was a sexual sadist and a mass murderer. I have no qualms about demonstrating this. In her case, she had absolute power. Bathory was debauched and evil, an amoral murdering maniac whose every whim was catered for by other sexual sadists in her employ only too happy to participate. Her mood swings, psychotic episodes, and irrational, inconsistent thinking are essentially the traits of a psychopath. I attributed the cause of her rages to blind jealousy.

I do feel she was jealous of those young women around her and that was the spark that lit the slow-burning embers of her insanity, which soon had her lose touch with all semblance of control and reality. She was getting older and becoming obsessed with her fading beauty. She had a special mirror constructed so that she could lean her arms on shelves and study her reflection for hours. The sexual sadism and the proclivity for murder was, I believe, always present. She witnessed horrific punishments meted out to thieves and others by staff as a child. This must have thrilled and inspired her as the madness was already there. She lived in a brutal age, in a backward country.

This was no Golden Age of Elizabeth, but a time when people in her country believed that mandrake, cut from the foot of a gallows, held magical powers as the semen of those hanged men dripped on it after a final erection! The term now in use to refer to such a thing is autoerotic asphyxiation. Magic was believed in, as was witchcraft, and despite Bathory’s education, she was a product of her time. She believed everything her servant lover and advisor, Darvulia, also known as the Witch of the Forest, told her. The fact that hundreds of girls went missing in Cachtice and no one did anything about it says a lot about the time and the place.

Her crimes were discovered finally by a Lutheran minister who actually witnessed one murder. An investigation was held, at last. Still, when the horrific scale of her crimes became known, even her enemy, Thurzo, the Palatine, did not wish her tried. He kept pleading on her behalf as he felt putting her on trial would denigrate the nobility. Finally, the king conceded: Countess Báthory would not be brought to public trial.

In light of the evidence, Thurzo recommended his original sentence of perpetuis carceribus (life imprisonment), rather than the death penalty. By order of Parliament, the name of Erzsebat Bathory would never again be spoken in polite society anyway. The judgment was that she be walled up in her own castle. I happen to think she was just locked in her bedchamber and fed. I don’t think she was treated royally, which is some comfort.

A really important note to stress here is the real Bathory’s crimes and torture methods were far worse than most of what I have depicted in this book, and that’s saying a lot! In order to make her real, I depicted her as the violent she devil I think she was, a blood- lusting lunatic who was also sexually degenerate. That is my advisory. This is one of the worst monsters that have existed in history and this is her story as I tell it. Much of it is factual but some of it fictionalized as she wasn’t really a vampire. Thank you for reading,

How is Vampire Love Different From Human Love?!

Vampires do not love each other as a rule, not in my fiction. They lust after one another, have wanton, unbridled, unrestrained sex with one another. And if they 'love' a human, it's going to be the same thing. There will be sex, lust and feeding!  Feeding is what vampires do. They might go to the opera, hang out in New Orleans or Paris, look very cosmopolitan, but they WILL feed! They will do this because they are not human. Unless a human being is in serious need of a forensic psychiatrist, they do not feed whilst having sex. Vampires do.

Question: How do I know if a vampire really loves someone or something?
Answer:   He or she does not drain the being that he or she is feeding on. Draining results in death! So, if the human is spared, the vampire loves them! There might not be a prom and a corsage, but there is vampire love.

Another difference, as I see it in my fiction, is vampires do all sorts of naughty, kinky things while feeding which is incorporated into the sex act. Oh yes, this can really get wild and does get wild in all my books.  The wildest sort of vampire sex is depicted in I, Bathory, Queen of Blood. Well, in human life, Erzsebet Bathory was a sexual predator and deviant, mass murderer who bathed in blood. That she did as a human being! So, what she gets up to as a vampire is wild and crazy. It would have to be, right, I mean in order to maintain the credibility of her character!

As a reviewer wrote about  justine: Into the Blood: "Bringing Vampires back to their roots of predators and not that of a lovable housemate!"

I like that!

As I always say, they are complex beings, capable of love and when they feel that, it will blow your sox off because it is rare for them to feel that way as they are basically, demonic creatures with no soul. They are what they are. And since they aren't like us at all, they 'love' differently. There are other aspects to them which appear in my fiction but now I am just thinking about love, vampire style.

If nothing else, I enjoy writing about them being what they really are like. There is a great deal of scope in their character depiction--and I love that! Now, remember, if a vampire wants to jump into the sack with you, there are fangs and the need to feed along with other things. Okay, some of you might like that, so that's cool! Go for it then!

Review:

***** A Blood-Soaked Rendition of The Fictional Life Of A Real-Life Multiple Murderer, History's 'Countess Dracula.'

As one blood-soaked page follows another we are pulled further and further into the depths of depravity to which Bathory is prepared to sink in order to fulfill her wildest sexual fantasies and murderous lusts.
Be warned! This is not a book for the squeamish or for those who object to the use of strong sexual language. It is here aplenty as is necessary when dealing with a character as sexually depraved and corrupt as Bathory.

Ms Gill is first and foremost a writer of horror and that is what she excels at, and here she has I feel, surpassed her earlier efforts by a long way. I, Bathory is her best yet, I say that quite unequivocally...
