A Doctor Who Adored The Dead

Excerpt about Dr. Lentworth who really enjoyed studying the corpses supplied to him. There were always enough, too.

"Picture, if you will, London’s dark streets with deep night as the perfect cover. I sat watching Lentworth’s excitement grow. We had been chatting but he was too nervous to continue so we sat silently, listening to the horse’s steady clip clop.

The streets were quiet as it was late. There was just the occasional passerby, marketers walking toward the market area for the start of the day’s trading.

And just in case a wench was fancied at this early hour, prostitutes were about, but not many as it was still a long time before daylight.

Lentworth had said he did not wish a prostitute for he wanted a ‘clean woman’ as he called them. No disease-ridden whores for him. Yes, this necrophile wished to have someone to love..."

Children Are Vanishing From The Streets of Paris!

An excerpt. From Paris, just before The French Revolution, children are disappearing. Eco suspects the vampiric nobles are responsible...!

"Actually, I was curious about just how bad things were and as we were to stay in Paris for a few days before travelling to Calais for the boat to Dover, I thought I’d satisfy my curiosity.

Edmund and I had it in our heads to go amongst the people before we were to leave. Naturally we did this in disguise. That is, we were dressed not as gentlemen. Somehow (with a generous stipend) we obtained an English speaking guide to show us around.

He had been suspicious about our motives but the money seemed to ease those feelings away. “I shall take you to a tavern, Monsieur. It is actually a notorious meeting place for vagabonds and miscreants.”

This he did by taking us to the notorious Marais area, which was a seething slum, one of the worst in Paris. One or two rather frantic individuals confided remarkable things to us. They said many children were disappearing.

“Monsieur, it is awful! They come and snatch them away and who knows for what purpose?! I myself have heard things…terrible things!”

Well, you can imagine how that struck me. I may be what I am but it was still dreadful—at the very least for what it could mean. Naturally, I wanted to know more.

It was then that I was told the most remarkable tale, recounted by a young man who swore that what he saw was absolutely true. He explained in his broken English how he had witnessed a child being pulled into a carriage.

“It came suddenly, just at dusk. A child was playing alone. A young girl. She had wandered away from her playmates. A cry was heard just as she was seen being bundled into the carriage. The other children shouted and the child’s mother appeared. When told what had happened, she collapsed. I did see the carriage slow down and stop but I was too far from it to do anything.”

He continued after a pause: “While another coach waited, the child was taken and placed in that second one. And Monsieur, the second one had a royal seal on it! A royal seal! I could not believe my eyes. What I had heard was true, I thought. The rumors were correct! Children were being spirited away from the streets of Paris and taken to the palace for some horrid mischief! It had to be. As the royal carriage then took off, I could do nothing but return to the poor mother to explain what I had seen.”

The young man spoke of the tears and shouts from the mother and her other children as an ever increasing crowd formed to bear witness to this horrible event. Many people shouted they too had seen such things.

“This has been going on for far too long! We must do something they shouted. We must!”

I thanked the young man and paid him for his trouble, although he was very proud. “No, Monsieur, it is truth and truth needs no recompense. It is how things are.”

“But can you not go to the authorities and report this?”

As I asked this, I remembered the crimes of Gilles de Rais and realized even centuries later, little had changed for the man shook his head and explained exactly who the authorities were. “It would do no good. We have no voice, we are no better than the filth in the streets, for we are regarded as such.”

Then I had visions of that so called filth rising up in order to make its nobles take notice.

Eventually, Edmund and I took our leave to make our way back to our lodgings.

“There is something going on here, Eco. I think it best to return to London, don’t you?”

A Necromantic Aristocrat - A Demon's Confessions

Excerpt from Eco's journal. This about a necromantic aristocrat.

"He led me up the main staircase but then instead of walking along the lushly appointed corridor, he turned and began walking toward an opulent mural. It looked to be early Renaissance, no doubt of Italian origin.

Just when I began to admire it, he did something, and the painting receded into the wall! Yes, this was no ordinary wall for it led to a stairway.

“They’re a bit old and rickety, so do try to hang on.”

I did and managed to step down upon the landing.

“Just along here,” he said. He led me into a damp, dusty smelling corridor that seemed to go on endlessly.

Just as I was beginning to think he was leading me on a merry chase, he stopped before a door. Rooms sat on both sides of the corridor but this was the one he had chosen.

“Voila!” he said and opened it. There was little light for the windows had been boarded up. He raised his torch then. “I want you to see something.”

At last I was able to make out the room and the contents. A woman lay upon a canopied bed.

“Her name was Elena. Her father was a Spanish merchant…quite successful. He couldn’t bear the death of his eighteen-year-old daughter, especially the thought of her slowly rotting away, becoming food for worms and nothing else, so he had her embalmed. I understand Egyptians did it. Quite a good job, wouldn’t you say?”

He insisted I come closer. When I was just next to him, he shone the torch over the girl.

It was remarkable for the girl looked to be asleep. I was incredulous. “How long has she been dead?”

“She died five years ago! She should be well-rotted by now, don’t you think?”

I nodded for I knew the stench of rot and decomposition should be prevalent. Yet I did not detect anything of the kind.

“Look!” He held the torch directly over her now.

I gasped because she was beautiful, perfect in every way. It seemed as though a noise could wake her at any moment.

“I have feelings for her,” he said. “Far more than I ever had for my wife.”

He nodded. “Yes, I have been with her many times—the first time being when I raised her up. I took her right there beside her grave! ‘Forgive me, beautiful angel,’ I cried as all of my passion burst forth from me.”

He then proceeded to tell me all the horrific details of that occurrence.
“Of course she felt different than she would have were she truly alive. She felt sort of leathery …” He paused for he sensed my horror.

Yes, Rose. I was horrorstruck. There are things I would not do myself. I’ve always judged demons too in this way as there are demons and demons. I don’t have as rigid a code as Louis, but this was beyond anything I thought acceptable..."

About Satan's Blood Club

Serious devil worship was what some aristocrats wanted. And they went to 'Lord' Eco to request them. More confessions from Eco's journal:

"Yes, Satan’s Blood Club—now that was an interesting enterprise. One of the most evil, decadent clubs I have ever had anything to do with. The membership was entirely composed of aristocrats and their friends: bankers, writers, actors and a sprinkling of some members of parliament. Shocked? I would think you are. It was far worse than an existing club.

The Hellfire Club was more for naughty, dirty-minded toffs than anything else. Rampant, non vampiric sexual orgies and silly schoolboy anti-religious antics were all the membership was concerned with.

Some visiting lords told me: “We grew bored when we saw they had no intention at all of sacrificing anyone or summoning demons, so we left!”

I had heard gossip about this but didn’t tell them as they seemed to be delighted to share what they thought was a secret with me.

“You were quite right to leave,” I replied. “And you have come to the right place.”

I began entertaining them in our private parlor. This was a rather ornately furnished lounge that was not part of the actual brothel.

The purpose of having the parlor within the brothel was two-fold. We lived there and anyone such as these two gentlemen got quite an eyeful when they came. So whatever business a caller came about, well, they knew where they were, shall we say.

Our vampiric wenches began to perform for them as soon as they stepped inside. In no time, we witnessed the most depraved orgies.

They were always grateful; in fact, they were intrigued with me. They considered me one of their own. Truth be told, I did let them think I was something of an aristocrat from France.

They didn’t like France or the French, being the Englishmen they were, but one title respected another as so often happens.

“You know,” Lord Leighton said. “There are things occurring in France now that are quite remarkable. I have heard about satanic practices that are held by the landed gentry, going so far up as the king.”

This was nothing new to me, which I told them. “Nearly a century ago,” I said, “there were plots and satanic practices, along with poisonings and such. The king’s own mistress was involved and a black arts practitioner known as La Voisin. It was really something.”

So thrilled they were that I told them all I knew, which wasn’t that much more, other than to say that a number of beheadings had resulted from this.

Yes, those Frenchies do have something of an affinity for that.

“I, too, provide a similar service, although perhaps our practice is a bit more contained,” I offered.

They exchanged looks a few times, which was not lost on me. At last, one of them, the older of the two lords, said what was on his mind. “We’d like to engage your services, Lord Eco, for our club, you see. We’re just beginning to organize ourselves now. It’ll be held at my country home in Kent, a secluded spot with its own caves that don’t have to be dug out, as they are already accessible. They go back to Roman and Druid times.”

He looked quite proud when he said that..."

No 'Haven' For Unwed Mothers!

From Unholy Testament - Full Circle, confessions of a demon. This, about acquiring illegitimate children for devil rites. The ruse was there existed a haven for young women in trouble.
PROMO 99 cents, now thru Feb 22

From Eco's journal:

"And so the message went out: “Make your way to London town and then cross the river to Southwark. Go up from the banks near the George Inn on Borough Street, there you will find a haven and good folk to help you in your hour of need! Do not fear, young miss, for these are fine people. Your cherished babe will go to good Christian folk who will raise your dear little one and give it a good home.”

Yes, Rose, they came—the poor, the not so poor; some were ugly, others were beautiful; many were in the first bloom of youth or already past it. They were, however, all united by desperate circumstances.

Eve never pressed them about their individual stories, but if there was some sort of confession, she would hear the pathetic stories from those who chose to unburden themselves as to how they had strayed.

A confession is good for the soul and though we had none, they had, and so they were comforted.
She’d show them to a room, not much more than a cupboard. But they were grateful, and as for the occasional shrieks they heard coming from other rooms and dens within our tainted dwelling, Eve would advise them not to mind the noise.

“They are just happy drunken folk who cannot hold their liquor. Alas, we need our business in order to care for women such as you…”

She’d implore them to be forgiving. They all were; the lost usually are.

So there you have it. What a picture it makes…desperate women giving birth and our vile activities—orgiastic feasting and feeding along with intense copulation—all under the same roof. How wretched.
As for the girls, some of them barely made it to our door. Many gave birth as soon as they stepped inside.

And so the babies were taken. None of them were nursed or even looked upon. Well, perhaps just a glance if the mother pleaded and wept.

“Yes, dear, there you go. We have a wet nurse who shall take your precious little love now. The family arrives tomorrow…”

The mothers, too defeatist even to protest, would go on their way, some to live, others to happily fall into Father Thames for they could not live with their decision.

We did actually have wet nurses. These were drunken and diseased trollops who often gave their milk away for a drink while their own baby perished one way or another.

Our babies would be quickly dispatched—coaches came and went all the time. There was a great deal of devil worship in those days. It was most surprising.

And what of the rites themselves? Well, it might surprise you to learn that there was a great need for curses and spells. Oh yes, witchcraft in its purest form was very much practiced. It hadn’t ever gone away for many people wished to have spells and incantations said for a variety of purposes. Greed was endemic. The wealthy and powerful could never have enough, always seeking more. Women wanted men they couldn’t have or men who had grown distant.,,"

The Beginning of a Dark Obsession

ON OFFER FOR 99 CENTS - UNHOLY TESTAMENT FULL CIRCLE
Confessions of a demon. This, from Eco's journal when he met Eve Darton (The House on Blackstone Moor), It is, for him, the beginning of a dark obsession.

At last we came to my lodgings. They weren’t bad as lodgings go, but clearly it was not up to her standards. Still, she said nothing. Her lips curved and she began to undress.

When she stood naked before me, I cried out: “You have the beauty of Venus.”

She giggled and drew me to her, her hoarse voice whispering to me. “I want you to taste me. I want you to make love to me with your mouth and your tongue. I am yours for this afternoon and after that, too, if you should like it.”

Oh, Rose, forgive me, for I shall not be too descriptive so as to offend your sensibilities. But truly, this was an experience I would never forget.

She would become my addiction. Yes, Rose—Eve would become a raging fever, an exotic disease I would contract and treasure. I never knew anyone—vampiric or human—like that. Insatiable, her desire knew no bounds, which only intrigued me more!

Sometime later, a wench poked her head in. She apologized but Eve invited her in. Actually, she did more than invite her in; she began to fondle the girl.

“You might as well know now, my love,” she said to me. “I like variety.”

I watched them for the longest time, and then joined in. Our lovemaking went on for hours. It wasn’t until the girl slept that I told Eve I knew what she was.

“You are a creature of the blood as I am.”

She didn’t ask me how I knew. She only smiled. “Let us feast on this girl,” she said. “And then I shall tell you about myself.”

A Revelation of Evil!

This is a major revelation that connects to The House on Blackstone Moor. It reveals Dr. Bannion's motivation in that first book of The Blackstone Vampires Series with regard to Rose Baines. Dr. Bannion treated Rose after she discovered her family's murders. But he always had plans for her.

From Eco's journal:

"It all changed when Bannion came to tell me he was going to have a marvelous girl installed in his home.

“You might remember her, Eco. She’s the one I told you about, the one who had the father that let me watch him…Rose Baines is her name. And well, I’ve come to tell you the father has killed his family and himself!”

Rose, I must tell you this now. I am sorry, but I want you to know the truth. There I was, listening to Bannion telling me he was there when you discovered the carnage! In between the telling of this horrendous tale, he kept saying how he wished me to see you.

Now, for the first time, my existence was divided in half and would be forever: the time before I laid eyes upon you and that time which would follow.

I recall that day more clearly than any other. I hadn’t wished to go with Bannion. Yet, demon that I am, I was tempted by his manner for it seemed to me there was the promise of untold sin. His eyes glowed and his face looked feverish. I had never seen him so excited.

His words struck me. “Come we shall see her…I want you to see her.”

I was curious. Well, he had gone on about you for years. And now, he had contrived to have you installed somewhere. He said it would be in his house. I doubted that, for by this time he had a home he shared with one Alice Mott…yes, his woman, Alice. A former patient he had previously put in his residence.

He spoke of how he had orchestrated this whole thing, setting your father up to do his bidding. The more he went on, the more I wondered how he had gained such influence with your father. How had he done that?

I’ve told you that he knew your father from years ago. Apparently, their peculiar friendship blossomed. His campaign to get you began in earnest from the first. And if you think about it, it wasn’t difficult as your father must have looked up to him.

Further, Bannion continued to bolster your father’s confidence. He contrived with him so that your father came to depend on him more and more and then, truthfully, there were the drugs.

Oh yes, drugs came into it. Opium was a great favorite of Bannion’s. It was his choice at Marsh. Yes, Rose, I am sad to remind you of this but I must.

Now we get to the crux of it all. How he manipulated your father to do what he did.

Bannion saw him the night before the murders. And so followed the first stage of his terrible plan: his telling your father you had been meeting him secretly, behind your father’s back!

“I’ve had her,” he said. “She gave herself freely to me. She says she wants no other, least of all her doddery, spital-faced father!”

Your father believed him and it wasn’t long before he got in a rage, mad as he was.

Of course, the question arises, how could he have been certain you wouldn’t come in and be murdered as well? That was easy, as he was with your father the entire time!

He was there. He witnessed the murders and then beguiled your father into committing suicide!
When it was over, he came for me. We arrived back at your house at the same time as the hospital wagon.

It was then that I first saw you. A girl, so pale and frightened looking. You could hardly stand. A man and woman half carried you down the steps.

A crowd had formed nearby and there was a gasp as you were unable to walk. They helped you into the carriage. I watched it pull away. He then told me how he was going to see you at the hospital.

“She’ll be mine before you know it…”

Serious Horror, What is it?

What is serious horror? I've been thinking about this. I think it's horror that goes back to basics, back to the starting point, back to why it was termed 'horror.'  The time when  monsters were depicted as monsters and vampires as the blood- feeding demonic creatures they are. That is not to say there can't be room for expansion because there can be.
I write about vampires that are evil and good. The good ones aren't elves or woodland fairies, however. Being vampires they face a dark existence; as dark as the night shadows they dwell in. If they are not intrinsically evil, they are tortured because they know what they are.  They cannot enter a church or be turned back into the human being they were. This causes them to suffer, which in turn causes them to have complex emotions and reactions to the world around them--both the living and undead ones.
They might be shunned by other vampires, those who enjoy their beastial existence, the feeds, the orgies and so on.
There is this, though. Horror is a broad church and there is room for much experimenting. It only enriches the genre. I, however, am a pretty passionate person by nature and feel I am on a mission to go back to what I see as the roots of horror; in the case of much of my fiction, the core values of darkest horror which I enjoy portraying. I'm not without humor though, dark as it often is. This I have done more in my short fiction.
I do recognize that readers change over time and what they like changes. That is why there is much romance (albeit twisted as hell) in my longer fiction. Even if vampires are heroic and sympathetic, I still depict them as needing to subsist on blood. A creature who lives on blood is not Goldilocks. It's either a vampire bat or a vampire, that's what I think.
I see a great deal of dark sexuality too within the vampire's existence. They feed and lust after one another and the living too. As Dracula says in my novel, The Fourth Bride, "there is pleasure in the blood..." He means sexual gratification. If that is shocking, it is shocking. But it is also being true to horror. Horror is horror. I'm not talking about paranormal romance. HORROR is DARK or it would not be called horror!
What do you think, those of you who read and write horror? I'd love to know.

My dark fiction, both my Blackstone Vampire Series, and Justine: Into the Blood as well as my collection of short stories, Carole Gill's House of Horrors and my novel,  Circus of Horrors are pretty dark.  All my fiction, including the anthologies I am published in, is available at Amazon.

A VAMPIRE ROMANCE NOVELIST & A PARTY TO DIE FOR!

A popular novelist of vampire romantic fiction and her boyfriend happily accept an invitation to a most noteworthy party.

Excerpt, Truth Hurts:

“I will need a volunteer please.”

One of the Goth sisters stood up.

“You’ll love this, Desiree!” Max whispered.

Tony waved his arms and the woman began to slowly lift off the floor. Desiree watched in amazement as she rose ever higher.

“Remarkable, isn’t it?”

Desiree turned to answer Max, but that’s when she noticed Greg and the men were gone. This didn’t surprise her but Scott wasn’t there either. And what was worse, both of the Goth girls were gone as well.

What to do?  She couldn’t rush off to search for him, not until this damned magic act was over. So she bided her time, tapping her Jimmy Choo shoes and trying not to look too upset. At last it ended.

“Pardon me I’m just going to see where my young friend is!”

Tony, ever the gallant host offered to help her look. “It’s quite a big place.”

They began searching and when Tony saw her glance up the stairs he suggested they go look there as well.

She took the stairs two at a time.

“There are ten bedrooms in all.”

He was telling her more, but she didn’t care. She didn’t even hear him as she rushed to open each door. When they reached the last room, Tony took her arm. “This is the master suite Des—are you sure you want to go in?”

She glared at him. “I am going in!”

He opened the door for her.

“Scott!”

Her accusatory scream died in her throat—her horror took it away, as her eyes beheld Scott lying naked in the bed with two women. But he wasn’t getting his jollies. His body had been torn open,"

"There is no doubt that she soars above the endless parade of independent horror authors to shine as a true star in the darkness. With the brilliant anthology House of Horrors she proves why she is a perennial favorite. To put it simply, this is a great assembly of tales anyone would be proud to have in their collection"

DRACULA AND HIS BRIDES!

WHAT WAS DRACULA'S EXISTENCE LIKE WITH HIS BRIDES? WAS IT AS EROTIC AS WE THINK IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN. HERE'S AN EXCERPT:

"I slept the first sleep of the vampire there in the crypt. My eyes lighted upon the great caskets. The place smelled of rot and decay, yet it was pleasing to me as this place would always be my bedchamber.

Dracula carried me in his arms. “My wife,” he said. “Now, it is time to rest.”
I barely recall closing my eyes I only remember darkness and then the sound of the casket opening.

The crypt was full of shadows yet I saw a face peering into my mine. “Come, sister.”

Hands reached out and I saw the other brides. They sat me up and dressed me for I was naked. They giggled, too. “These are your wedding clothes. Now you are his forever as we are...”

Something struck me then. Something about their eyes. Though their lips spoke of love, their eyes reflected jealousy.

They told me their names in their soft yet strangely discordant voices. Now, I could see them quite clearly. I was surprised to see they all looked alike; truly they did look like sisters.

The most beautiful of the three spoke first. “I am called Verona the fair,” she said, touching her long blonde hair. “ These are Marishka and Aleera.”

As she said their names she began to touch them and they moaned with pleasure until they were all three naked.

Dracula looked pleased. “They love one another as they will love you, dear one.”
Though I didn’t wish it, I saw that he wanted me to go to them. “Please,” he said.
Their hands and lips were once again upon me, although now it was different. Now their touch hurt and I tried to pull away.

Dracula didn’t see my discomfiture for he had turned to leave the chamber.
“Come, it is time to feed,” he said. “Our world is the night and our sun is the moon.”

The sisters were right behind me. Their giggles sounded ominous. “Yes, to feed, Dia. To feed and to love...”

I watched them drift beyond the castle walls. And remarkably, I did the same—a thrilling and strange experience. It was a dark fantasy, what else could it be? And though I wondered about it, I did not care. Just to be enveloped in it was all I wanted.

The air was cold, yet I didn’t mind. I found it bracing. Never had my senses been as keen. I smelled pungent foliage and animals, too. And blood. Yes, tangy blood. Blood I wished to drink!

Dracula stood nearby and motioned me forward. He didn’t have to; the scent of human blood would have drawn me there. A man lay on the ground, not fully conscious.

“I have half strangled him,” Dracula said as he knelt down and began feeding. At last he glanced up. “He still lives; you may only feed on the living. Come, child.”
I did not hesitate; any sense of decency was gone. I was a wanton thing, a creature of the night in search of blood and little else.

He took my hand to guide it toward my lips. “Feel them,”

I felt my longer incisors and gasped.

He dipped his finger in the man’s blood. “Taste it.”

I sucked his finger with great hunger and relish. Divine. Then with joyful abandon, I bent down to feed. I fed voraciously because I was ravenous.

As I sucked forth the man’s blood, I saw his life. I saw the simple cottage of a peasant and a woman and children—his family. Yet though I saw these things, I didn’t care. It meant nothing to me. Only the blood and my beastly satisfaction were important.

I continued to feed and began to see different scenes, all having to do with the dying man’s life. When he shuddered, Dracula touched me. “You can take no more.”

I realized the man was dead, for the shuddering had stopped. And I cried because I wished more! Dracula shook his head. “You must never weaken. Never sup on the blood of the dead for if you do, your fate will be more horrible than you can imagine.”

WRITING THE FOURTH BRIDE OF DRACULA

Was a work of love. I've always wondered about those three wives of Dracula. Just what did they get up to? I wondered where they came from and how they came to be vampires. And really, if I was wondering about that I was also wondering about Dracula. I had so many questions. What was he like before becoming a vampire? What were his parents like and the time he lived in?

Yes, it is touched upon in Bram Stoker's novel and in film versions, but it's not detailed. I also wondered how Dracula became a vampire. I've connected that to his attendance (which is depicted by Bram Stoker in Dracula) at a school of the occult in Scholomance, Transylvania, as mentioned in my previous post.

There's a storyline there that explains a lot. And although I was scrupulous in details about getting the story right (not diluted), I did not stint on sex and graphic violence. Let's face it, these vampires are beings from hell. They are demonic and though they lust after one another (and boy, do they ever) they do it in their own way; hence the sex and violence. When they feed they aren't delicate. These are not vegetarian vampires.

I have also given Dracula a very good reason for wanting to go to England. He wishes to raise a vampire army because of something he saw; something that horrified him. After seeing this horror, he begins to write letters. Dia, the fourth bride is witness to it. She also sees Jonathan Harker arrive.
She doesn't see Van Helsing, but she is told by Dracula's loyal Szagany Gypsies every detail, including Dracula's 'death.'

My main objective was to write a novel that embellishes the novel Bram Stoker wrote. I also wished to entertain modern readers. The wives, the blood the sex, the hideous existence of Dracula and his wives are all there. It was why I wrote the book. Darkness is at the core of my writing, but wishing to get Dracula right was the core objective of my writing, The Fourth Bride (of Dracula)!

The Fourth Bride is on offer now for 99 cents at Amazon. If you ever wanted to know more of Dracula existence, living and undead, then look no further!

DO YOU KNOW OF DRACULA'S CONNECTION TO SATAN?

Yes! There is a connection with the devil! Anyone who doesn't think so hasn't read Dracula by Bram Stoker.

Before writing The Fourth Bride, I studied the novel, Dracula and I learned a great deal. I learned for instance, that the count attended a school in Scholomance in Transylvania where he learned the black arts. Bram Stoker includes an intriguing allusion to a mysterious devil’s school in Transylvania: The Draculas, he wrote, “had dealings with the Evil One. They learned his secrets in the Scholomance, amongst the mountains over Lake Hermanstadt, where the devil claims the tenth scholar as his due.”

The vampire himself was one of these scholars, a diabolic genius.

Now then, horror fiction is diverse as tastes are. Vampires are written a variety of ways, but one truth unites all of them. It is at the core of their being. THEY ARE DEMONIC CREATURES. They may be tortured and miserable, but they are what they are. If an author wants to dream up a different sort of being--fine. That might prove to be very interesting. But for now, please let me know that you understand that Bram Stoker who wrote the iconic novel, Dracula was writing him with a core connection to the devil. If you dispute that, you don't know what Dracula is really about.

Let the spins roll on, it's good for the vampire sub genre as long as we know what the original blood-sucking count was really about.

WHAT IF DRACULA HAD A FOURTH BRIDE?

Jonathan Harker approaches, from The Fourth Bride:

"I was terrified of discovery and since I rarely knew where the sisters were, I was worried, but my desire to find out whatever I could, drove me on.

I found an immense room; filled with Dracula’s presence. Book cases lined the walls, going from floor to ceiling. There was a great table piled high with books and papers. A smaller table nearby was crowded with maps and journals. There was a log book too. When I opened it, a paper slipped out.

There were copious notes on it, none of which meant anything to me, but then I read something about a ship called the Demeter. There were notations along the margins, but the writing was so cramped, I could not make out what it said.

As I turned to leave, I saw some letters. I picked one up and read the sender was one Jonathan Harker.

Mr. Hawkins has referred your enquiry to me and I look forward...

That was all I read, for I was certain I heard footsteps. I flew back to the chamber to await his arrival.

EROTIC SCENE FROM THE FOURTH BRIDE (OF DRACULA)

WHAT IF DRACULA HAD A FOURTH BRIDE? WHAT WOULD IT HAVE BEEN LIKE?

99 cents promo August 16 - 22!

I dreamt I heard soft murmurs all around me. It was not unpleasant for I was reminded of fairy tales and magical legends. I heard singing too; the sound of sirens perhaps. The songs were haunting, sad and beautiful all at once.

I saw three figures in the shadows. I reached out to touch them in my dream, and they came forward. “Sister!” they called.

Something cool yet comforting touched my lips. I opened my eyes to see a graceful hand lingering there. A woman was smiling at me. She leaned over and kissed me on the lips. And although her lips were icy, it was pleasing.
“Am I dreaming?”

She smiled. “Yes, some of it.”
“Who are you?”
She didn’t reply, she only took my hand in her cold one and kissed it. “ Dia...”
“How do you know my name?”
“The master told us.”

I was suddenly aware of other voices. Voices that answered in perfect unison. “The master,” they repeated until it sounded like a chant.

Then, in the soft glow of candlelight, I saw three women. They were strangely beautiful, garbed in long flowing white gowns. Suddenly they began to float up toward the bed ever so slowly, their fingers reaching out toward me as they called, “Sister.”

Were they ghosts or spirits from another world? Before I could ponder that question any longer, they began sweeping over me. I was frightened but thrilled at the same time, for there seemed about them the promise of joy and untold pleasure.

Their icy hands sought the top of my night gown, which they peeled away until I was naked. First one reached over and then the other two, each of them touching me.

“Mmmm.”

A soft sigh sounded in my ears as cool lips touched my neck.
“Beautiful.”

I moaned as the hands continued to sweep over me. Gentle yet persistent fingers probed my secret places—places previously unexplored—caressing and invading my body.

Lips replaced fingers. Icy lips, blue with undeath but soon to be reddened with life, my life—but I did not know then, that would be one of my very first lessons.

I felt two at my neck and one at my breast. Then I felt something sharp stab into flesh and nearly cried out but fell silent. For there by the fire stood a man. I could only make out that he was tall and slender. He moved toward the bed. Not to help me but to watch...!

At last I knew I was not dreaming. There were three women touching me and whispering as they did.

“Yes, now,” the man said.

Once again I felt their teeth upon my flesh. “We drink you and love you...”

It was only painful for a moment for when one bit me, another caressed me. And so it went on like that for an eternity it seemed.

I drifted away then, retreating into a warm place full of shadows, a netherworld so near the living one. How I wished to remain there.

In my mind I saw myself covered by three female figures and a male as well. I opened my eyes to see Dracula’s own burning like two red coals. I saw in their depths a new world I would soon be entering.

I watched as his mouth sought my neck and then my breasts. I felt the sharp sting of his teeth and the pressure of his suckling and drawing out of my blood. Yet, it was pleasurable and I wished him to do whatever he liked. There had never been a greater pleasure than this for me. I cried out in ecstasy.

After he fed he pulled away and in the semi dark I saw my blood on him. . “Beloved!” he cried. “Now you shall drink from me, for it is our wedding. I watched as he slit open his chest. “Drink and you shall never know death.”
And so I did.

I was thirsty and lapped it up. There was no wine sweeter than this; his own ruby port.

As I swallowed, I saw images of a life...a boy becoming a man. I saw battles and bloodshed, joy and sorrow. In the light and darkness of the visions appeared faces of creatures I could not identify. And then I saw the sisters calling out to me.

At first I thought I was still dreaming, but then I smelled their blood. “Sister, you are one of us now,” they said in unison.

I watched as they bent over me, each taking a part of me as though I were a feast set before them.

“They drink from your fountain for you are the new covenant. You are ours now and forever,” Dracula said.

The night was endless it seemed, and if there was pain, that pain would soon disappear and have pleasure replace it. Fathomless pleasure, the joy unending, for this was the beginning of the ritual of the blood.

“Love the blood,” he whispered. “The joy is in the blood...the passion is in the blood...endless life is in the blood...!”

I felt him mount me then. His eyes swept over my body before he took me in sight of the sisters, those who I would soon call the brides.
It was sometime later that I heard them whisper. “Dawn is breaking. Let us take her to the crypt.”
*
I slept the first sleep of the vampire there in the crypt.

I realized the man was dead, for the shuddering had stopped. And I cried because I wished more! Dracula shook his head. “You must never weaken. Never sup on the blood of the dead for if you do, your fate will be more horrible than you can imagine.”

I feared his anger and wrath, and I agreed. “I would never do that.”
“Others have,” he said. “Come, I will show you. But first,”—he smiled—“let us go to finish our feeding.”

The cottage was not far, the dead man’s dwelling where he lived with his wife and three children. The sisters were already there feeding on his loved ones who lay bleeding. They were crying out though for they were not yet close to death.
The sisters did not look up; they were too engrossed in their feasting. We joined them, although Dracula did not feed as long as the sisters.

This had become my world, and I was one of them. As I fed on one of the three children I saw her life, short as it was, flash through my mind. There was little to see for she had only reached a few years.

The mother held more interest for me. And though she was fading fast, I fed upon her and saw her childhood and maidenhood. I saw her wedding and her passion. I saw the love there, too. But because I was already a blood beast, I had no feelings of remorse.

We fed until they were no longer food but merely dead things, white and bloodless. We then returned to the castle where I was to have my first lesson.

“Come,” he said, as he led me past our crypts into a dank, dark antechamber. “I told you that you must never feed upon the dead for to drink a corpse’s blood is to invoke my fury!” The timbre of his voice made me tremble. “There, look upon that!”

He pointed to something in the corner. Massive chains dangled from the ceiling and from them hung a cage. He ordered me to look inside.

I gasped at the sight of the mutilated corpse of a woman. “I have preserved her so that others might learn.”

There wasn’t one part of her that was not mutilated. Her eyes were gone as were her features.

“That was not the work of rats,” I said. My reaction was to cry. I buried my face in my hands and wept. Not only was I frightened of him, but I felt desolate. “I do not wish to anger you, master.”

He swept me into his arms and took me upstairs, past my sisters, to a vast chamber. “This was a ballroom once. There was music and laughter, days long ago, the days of my living life...” He sounded sad yet proud of those days.
“Do you miss it?”

He looked surprised and stared at me for so long I feared asking him what I had and worried at his reaction.

But he sighed. “That which has gone before in a vampire’s existence must not be recalled, but must be banished from all thought. That is the price of endless existence.”

“I promise never to remember!”

He kissed my forehead and then my lips. And then he took me there and I gave myself up to him over and over. This was my world and I cared not for anything that had gone before. Nor would I change, of that I was certain.

He was my master and I was his devoted wife, his lover and slave, and I would be for as long as I existed. I would kill for him and die for him. I was his fourth bride.

A terrible truth took hold of me then. I wanted him for myself. If the sisters resented me, I resented them. Dracula was my lord and I would wish for no other. I would have my lord to myself!
