EXCERPT: HARKER & THE BRIDES!

"He gave himself up to her and just as her teeth began to sink into his flesh, the door did open and Dracula’s two other brides came in, floating like mist.

How they smiled and giggled—for they were eager to taste his blood.

Then as they all converged upon Jonathan Harker they suddenly stopped when they felt their Master’s eyes upon them. He, Dracula was standing in the doorway!

“Forgive us, please. Do not be angry,” they begged.

Harker watched as Dracula admonished them. Yet even as he did, Harker saw a fearful light in the Count’s eyes, a light that bespoke sensual love and sexual pleasure beyond comprehension..."

Vampires, Madness, Obsession, Devil Worship and Dracula!

Hell yeah and more! That is at the core of this Series. A father's murderous evil and depravity in The House on Blackstone Moor sets it off. Has more evil come because of what happened?

Book 2, Unholy Testament - The Beginnings continues the story as the demon, Eco has penned a confession of all of his sins in his immortal life. He has done it, he says, for love.

Book 3, Unholy Testament - Full Circle includes the rest of his confession as all of the hideous secrets of Blackstone House are revealed. Including the demon's acquaintanceship with the murderously depraved father.

Book 4, The Fourth Bride  Tells of Dracula and the child he cursed to one day become his bride, as it concludes the Series. It is revealed that Dracula knows the demon. They were friends.

"92 Horror authors you need to read right now"
Carole Gill -- the Blackstone Vampires series
~Charlotte Books - EXAMINER
.
"In the attempt to find the just measure of horror and terror, I came upon the writing of Carole Gill whose work revealed a whole new dimension to me. The figure of the gothic child was there. Stoker's horror was there. Along with the romance! At the heart of her writing one stumbles upon a genuine search for that darkness we lost with the loss of Stoker."
DR. MARGARITA GEORGIEVA ~ Gothic Readings in The Dark

The House on Blackstone Moor:
"Carole Gill presents a monstrous mythology that evokes Milton and makes you resent any time you must take away from finishing this fabulous read!"

Please prepare yourself for I shall recount this as honestly as I must in order to keep fulfilling the purpose of this treatise..."

Rose and her children find themselves held captive on a ship staffed by vampires, overseen by the mad and evil demon Eco. The last time Rose saw Eco he tried to destroy the children, and now he tells her he loves her.

Eco, believing he has fallen in love with her, pens a confession documenting all sins he has committed during his immortal existence.

From Ancient Egyptian vampire cults, Roman vampire brothels, The Dark Ages, The Crusades, The Black Death of 1348, on to his meeting with the child murderer and Satanist Gilles de Rais, and concluding with his wicked, blood-soaked affair with the Blood Countess herself, Erzebat Bathory. EXCERPT: A Demon's Confession

99 cents promo:  Unholy Testament - The Beginnings

"I am the demon, Eco. I begin at the beginning, that is, my own beginning. There was hardly a time when the world did not know my name or the nature of my existence.

I have been feared, hated and condemned to Hell. Yet, what is Hell to me but another place I call home?

Demon though I am, my roots are in heaven; my father’s former stomping ground for Father was one of God’s own angels, as Louis’ father was. Sad to say, they backed the losing side for they chose Lucifer. Yes, he who is called Satan now was Lucifer before the fall.

You know whereof I speak. That great fall from grace—the plunge away from the light of God and all that goes with it. Louis has told you already of the battle in Heaven and of the sides that were taken.

They were banished for it. No more were they to see Heaven’s light, nor be amongst their angelic brethren. No, they were to be punished severely.

“Go now, you pestilence, follow he whom you have chosen as master!”

And so they fell to Earth and Lucifer fell with them.

“I saw him fly past. I never took my eyes off of him!” So was my father’s testimony to me.

But if his supporters found themselves on Earth, Lucifer did not.

They watched horror-struck as a great chasm opened.

“See how he falls into it!” they cried.

“Yes,” my father told me. “We could see the flames and feel the heat. He looked up at us once before he vanished. His shout was like a thousand knives: “You will know me as Satan now! Satan forever condemned to exist apart from mankind!”

Excerpt: Feeding Frenzy!

"Several people were swarming around something on the floor. I was reminded of that horrid night on the moors when I stumbled upon vampires feeding.

Were these people vampires? I recognized them; the young golden haired man and the elderly couple as well as others. Each of them covered in blood, caked in the stuff!

“Come, my dear. There is enough to go around,” Lillian said gently, urging me to partake of the feed.

They began to move away so I could see what was on the floor. At first I couldn’t take it in. But then I saw what it was.

They had been feeding on a naked girl! Her body was streaked in blood yet still more blood poured from her. She vanished from sight as the group began to feed once again..."

EXCERPT: A PEDOPHILE BUYS THE WRONG DOLL...

"She was new to his collection. Actually she was very special, but he wouldn’t know that until later, until it was too late.

He had planned to use her that day as an enticement, pretty little doll sitting on the front seat with him.

“Hi I’m Uncle Jimbo and this is my new dolly. Would you like to play with her, yes that’s right little girl. Just step up to the car and see how nice Dolly is…”

Didn’t always work. It used to work better but that was years ago about the time of his conviction.

"James Arthur Charlton you have been found guilty of the dreadful crime of child abuse. It is the sentence of this court that you be incarcerated…”

Yeah so he served ten years. Ten years and he hadn’t even killed the kid. Ten years they gave for murder not for playing with a little girl and keeping her entertained.

They lied about him and about what he did. The kiddie's mother lied and so did the little girl.

They took her testimony in a special hearing and then read it out in court.

Boy did he squirm; well it was how he was made to feel especially under the steely gaze of the grandmother.

What an old witch she was with her hooded eyes and her babushka. Foreign too, nasty foreign baggage.

She shouted something he didn’t understand. Someone said she cursed him in Hungarian.

It didn’t bother him, he didn’t believe in things like that then..."

BUT THAT WAS BEFORE HE BOUGHT THE NEW DOLL...!

"There is no doubt that she soars above the endless parade of independent horror authors to shine as a true star in the darkness. With the brilliant anthology House of Horrors she proves why she is a perennial favorite. To put it simply, this is a great assembly of tales anyone would be proud to have in their collection"

99 CENTS! UNHOLY TESTAMENT - THE BEGINNINGS

ECO, WINNER eFestival of Words, 2014 BEST VILLAIN is featured!

Books 1 and 2 of The Blackstone Vampires features a villain called Eco. Eco is beyond a bad-ass. He is a demon cursed with madness. Why the madness? Well, Eco can distinguish truth from lies.

He won for best villain (The House on Blackstone Moor) at eFESTIVAL of words, 2014

He became so popular because of the first book, I agreed to do a second featuring him. That was a real challenge. How can a demonic being with no good in him, be the star of his own book? What kind of story would he tell?

He tells plenty, in fact, his story is immense. It spills over into Book 3, Unholy Testament - Full Circle.

But let's take a look at this book which is priced at 99 cents (thank you, Creativia).

Eco, swearing his love for Rose (The House on Blackstone Moor) has penned a confession listing all the sins he has committed in the course of his immortal existence. He demands she read this document. She does, she has to. He is keeping her prisoner on board a ship staffed by vampires, commandeered by him. She has no choice, her children are with her.

BLURB:

EXCERPT: EVIL DOLL!

ANOTHER EXCERPT (this is from The Devil's Work which will be broadcast on tv & web this year).
 :
"The kid wakes up during the night and finds the doll is sitting on her pillow looking at her, just staring at her and if that isn’t horrible enough it smiles and then hisses. The kid freaks, screams her goddamned head off, and both parents rush in so fast that they get stuck in the doorway, vying to be the first into their little angel’s room.

The kid is pointing but the parents don’t think much about it and they calm the little girl, but she asks them to take the doll out of her room.

“It scares me, Mommy I don’t want it in here!”

“But you like this dolly, you said you loved her!”

“No, no not anymore, she’s evil!”

“Evil? Gosh, sweetie how could a doll possibly be evil?”

The parents take the doll to their room. Now, that’s what they shouldn’t have done because the doll screws them up then. She does it while they’re asleep. She whispers in both of their ears, and what she says changes them exactly how she wants. They go from loving, normal beings, to maniacal hate-filled ones whose sole purpose is to carry out the doll’s will.

It happens in the morning. Well, over the whole of the next day actually—when they kill their own child..."

Excerpt: ANGER NEVER DIES!

What's old Pa's secret? And what's in his box of treasures? He loves his souvenirs, loves to touch them. Yet he doesn't remember why. His son has killed to protect his secret. And really, it's one hell of a secret!

EXCERPT:

"He didn’t have to wait long. The ghosts started attacking Old Pa at once. Unlike before when they pummeled him, they were now slashing him. They didn’t appear to be holding a weapon. After all, how can insubstantial beings hold a knife? This was a different sort of assault.

They soon had him on his back just as he had done to them. They tore at his clothes as they slashed away, each taking turns and shrieking as they did.

“Anger never dies,” Joe said. And he kept repeating it.

Fred could do nothing but watch. Even when he closed his eyes at the most horrific of times, he felt an unseen force raising his eye lids, forcing him to watch.

Joe laughed. “You have to watch. It’s just the way it is.”

So he did. When his father had been reduced to a slashed up bloody mass of flesh, courtesy of the ghosts, Fred was hysterical. “No,” Joe said. “He isn’t dying, just as he’s no longer really living. And you’re not really living, either, so don’t sweat it..."

(end of excerpt)

“This is horrific in the best way! It is extreme ... and disturbing.
"Riveting. Imaginative. Chilling. Fantastical."
"Wonderful horror with a side order of ribs."
"Outstanding story line and strong characters. I felt like I was right there and a part of the sideshow.
"An awesome little creepfest!"
"Never going to the circus again!"
"True horror!"

“Scary from beginning to end! Sit back and read your way into a horror filled tale! Enjoy!”

Excerpt: The Fat Man

EXCERPT:

"The clowns had zeroed in on a fat man. Fat and slow and stupid. He had come alone. There he was, walking down the Midway, all eyes—eating his hot dogs.

Happy couldn’t get over the various aromas. The hot dogs and the man himself, his hair oil, and his flesh.

Noble said he thought the guy smelled of beer, too. Danny laughed. “Okay by me because I like beer.”

They hadn’t done anything like this before—like they were planning to do. They had only eaten people they killed and they only killed those that had hurt or insulted them or their friends, but this was different. This was something else, a new feeling. Something predatory had seized hold of them.

They followed the guy to the end of the Midway. When they realized they were alone, they called to him. Happy joked around with him, distracting him. Then Noble and Danny knocked him out.

“The woods. No one is there now.”

Danny wanted to know if they’d have a fire. He had never eaten anyone raw before.

Happy laughed as he took out his straight razor and cut the man’s throat. They stood over the poor jerk, watching him convulse as he bled to death.

“See, it’s over fast. Who wants what?”

The Succubus From 'Circus of Horrors!'

Excerpt: From Circus of Horrors

"They didn’t speak much; in fact, that was the only conversation they had other than what Lucy said she wanted him to do to her. He obeyed happily. And when he was finished, she said, “Now, relax…” And he complied, as she did all the work.

Both offered proclamations of undying love—sweet and moving. And it helped; boy, did it ever.

He kissed her long and hard. “I love you, Lucy… I always will.”

They kissed again and he left.

He had no idea Dorinda had come out from under the bed, nor did he know she was his regular succubus. Both Dorinda and Lucy giggled about it, that and the special drink Fred had taken..."

Then they kissed. In a moment, they were doing it too—whatever they could do as women. Then, when they both began to change into men and after that, into various animals, they continued to copulate however such creatures were wont to do.

The last transformation occurred when Lucy turned into a great winged creature and flew outside with Dorinda accompanying her..."

Real Conjuring!

Excerpt:

"This time, Joe raised both arms, shouted something, and a wind began to stir—not much at first but it became stronger until it almost knocked Hank off his feet. “Christ, what is that?” Hank turned around expecting to see damage, but there wasn’t any anywhere. “I thought…”

By the time Joe answered, there was no wind at all. “You thought it was real.”

“It felt real!”

Joe smiled. “The power of suggestion and possibly some magic, too. Let’s see—how about something really spectacular?”

Once again, he waved his arms and said something, and animals started to appear. Hank clapped his hands like a child. It was fantastic! Mice and squirrels, small dogs, kittens, but then—! Then suddenly, there were huge animals.

Hank’s mouth dropped open when the elephant appeared. A big, fucking elephant wearing a pink headdress and everything.

“Queenie! Trick!” Joe ordered.

The elephant obeyed that command and stood up on her hind legs. Hank looked on in amazement because it didn’t stop there. There was also an elephant handler to keep his charge in line.

And if that was incredible, there was more. Suddenly, cages full of snarling wild cats, including menacing lions and a lion tamer lined up in front of them.

Hank nearly ran from it all, but Joe said the lion tamer had everything under control. “Oh sure, kid. He’s as real as the animals. This ain’t no magic; this is conjuring—only it ain’t trickery, it’s real conjuring.”

Promos Are Fun?

Are they? Only if you're very new at marketing your book. If you're not--THEN PROMOS CAN DRIVE YOU CRAZY!

Seriously, if you're short of the thousands of dollars it would take to hire competent publicity people--then you do it yourself basically. Published or not, you have to also get in there and tweet and share and whore around on whtaever social networks you're on.

I had fairly good promo results and a super one--House of Horrors went up to #2.

I did a celebratory happy dance about it. Then I continued with my promoting.

The thing is you can't do too much because people will say, "SHADDUP, ALREADY!"

Whatever you do, however you do it, the thing is YOU CANNOT MAKE PEOPLE BUY YOUR BOOKS. Some will, some won't, some almost will, some definitely won't.

YOU JUST DON'T KNOW. You can pray, you can light candles and/or do chants--whaever you like, but you cannot actually make people press 'buy' on Amazon for example.

I don't ever pray for myself. I don't think I should, not for something materialistic any way, so I don't. I pray for people, family--dogs, etc. but not for sales.

I would like to be able to use mind control, but I can't. I set out my stall usually by hard worked-on tweets and grippingly fantastic, OMG excerpts from my fiction. What people do after reading them is up to them.

I control nothing. Remember Outer Limits from years ago? WE CONTROL THE VERTICAL...WE CONTROL THE HORIZONTAL.

GOT NEWS FOR YA! If they do, they do--I control nothing. Just my own, weary self, putting up another *%&&& tweet, post, excerpt.

It ain't easy but it's part of the process. Anton Chekov, F. Scott Fitzgerald didn't have to worry about tweeting Lucky guys!

Was this a rant, not really it was an alternative way I thought of to share this past promotional period which nearly did me in. Onwards and upwards. On to my work in progress which, when it is finished will be tweeted, shared and hawked. The way it is!
