About the Dolls

Fred runs the toy stand. There are loads of different kinds of dolls. Something troubles him about them. He hears things sometimes...

"They looked like nice kids. Two girls and a boy. They agreed shyly but their eyes were fixed on what they wanted. That was obvious.

The woman began to giggle. “Alright. Why don’t you each pick a toy that you’d like?”

They did. The girls picked two dolls and the boy the monkey with the drum. Hank wound it up and the little boy laughed.

It wasn’t until the family left with their purchases that Hank sniggered. “Them’s real good toys,” he said. “Real good. One of a kind, you might say.”

He took his break before Fred did. Hank was a lot more sure of himself than he had ever been, what with his friendship with Joe.

Fred went about fixing up the place, putting things back where they belonged. Then, something called out—in a faraway voice..."

About the Sirens

What the sirens could do! 

"Dorinda pulled the other sirens close to her and they giggled and touched one another. And while they did this, they began to change—from women with beautiful hair and fine bodies they changed into men, then into animals and birds. They could do this because they had never been human.

They loved the changing, as they called it. In each form, they explored different ways of pleasuring one another. This transforming and pleasuring lasted for hours and still, the clowns slept.

The clowns woke to seeing the sirens looking as the dancers they knew. “Eat, my love, eat,” they coaxed. This they said as each held a handful of the food they had brought to them. Happy smiled for he no longer cared what he was given. He opened his mouth and ate, savoring the taste.

Each followed his example. Noble and Danny ate and all the while, the dancers sang. There was joy in the songs—joy and promises of a darkness none of the clowns could imagine.

 “You will have bounty after bounty—nothing shall be wrong… no act despised, no desire denied,” Dorinda sang.

She led them out afterwards. “We shall take you places you have never dreamed of…”

It feels good, of course it does. A piece of my soul is in these books. I gave everything to get the story as I wanted it to be. As you know by now, there are four books in the series. Each continues onto the next. It's one story, basically. It's about good vs. evil and features vampires and human beings all capable of good and evil.

Much of it is a morality tale. The series begins with the worst crime of all, murder that is committed by an insane, incestuous father. Human evil should never be under estimated. There is more of it in the first book and it continues through the series as does supernatural evil. Evil is evil. Whatever our belief systems are, we can agree evil exists. 

Within the framework of the series I have incorporated it into the storyline. Both human beings and vampire recognize it for what it is and how it affects them and others. There is no more evil a vampire than Eco, who narrates both the second and third books.

Eco won for best villain at the eFestival of Words 2014 and the House on Blackstone Moor won for Best Horror. 

Eco is a highly intelligent demon and vampire and is my favorite character. He always has been. He's mad, bad and dangerous to know but over the course of the series, his intelligence makes him realize things. You will see how this happens and what the effects are.

Unholy Testament - The Beginnings

The story of Rose Baines continues in book two of Carole Gill's Blackstone Vampires!

Rose and her children find themselves held captive on a ship staffed by vampires, overseen by the mad and evil demon Eco. The last time Rose saw Eco he tried to destroy the children, and now he tells her he loves her.

Rose and her childrens' ordeal continues. They are still held on a ship whose crew are vampires, overseen by the demon Eco.

There are more blood-drenched confessions to read. Rose has no choice but to finish the journal. Eco, mad and as unpredictable as ever, can snap at any time. But will he?

The rest of the journal tells of the sick and twisted obsession Eco has had for Blackstone House's former mistress, evil and debauched Eve Darton. There are aristocratic devil rites, both in England and France, including satanic sacrifices. There is the Great Fire of London 1666, plagues, vampire destroyers, witch hunts and resurrection men who supply a necrophile doctor.

The novel comes full circle as all the hideous secrets of Blackstone House are revealed, as are the reasons Rose’s father killed himself and his family.

Dracula is introduced, as is a child cruelly orphaned by the vampires. Dracula, the child’s dying mother says, has cursed her daughter and pleads with Rose to take her. Rose does, but what hope can the hopeless have?

The Fourth Bride

After the tragic and sudden death of her groom, Dia, cursed by Dracula as a babe, is taken to his castle.

Once there, she is seduced and turned by the count to become his fourth bride. The other brides are to be her sisters, but there is great rivalry as the brides compete for their master’s affection. Dracula takes Dia away, but to whose castle has he taken her and are they being watched?

Dracula’s gypsies are loyal to their master and will try to save him, but the destroyers led by Van Helsing come and there is great carnage. Still, for one, there is salvation from the unlikeliest of saviors. There is betrayal and a freak show run by evil men, as well as the greatest passion Dia will ever know, but can she trust it?

And what of Dracula’s greatest vampire enemy, the one who has fallen in love with Dia; the nobleman Dracula turned. Can he be trusted?

Al, one of the sideshow midgets, didn't take kindly to bullying especially on the day he got engaged.  

"Fred saw to Old Pa. “Come along now, Pop. Let’s go to breakfast.” It was early; they’d just be cooking it up, but Fred was hungry. Hungry and happy—a good way to be.

They were just having their eggs when Joe came traipsing by. “Did you hear what happened?” Before another word passed out of his mouth, Fred felt his stomach drop. “No, what happened?”

“Damndest thing, Fred. A Dalton kid was sliced up last night. They found him in back of Dalton’s Department Store. He was cut so badly, he didn’t have an ounce of blood left in his body. Cut his dick off and everything.” Joe leaned over. “And whoever did it shoved it in his mouth!”

Fred didn’t let his face betray him. “Horrible! Do they know who did it?”

“Not a clue. People like that ask for trouble sometimes though. I’ve always thought that. How about you?”

Fred replied with some kind of bullshit that sounded right. 

“Dalton never had much crime, sure is unusual. I wonder who did it.”

Fred shrugged. “Never know what’s in people’s heads.”

“Sure don’t.”

He sought Al out as soon as he could. “Did you?”

“Did I do what?” Al asked with a smirk.

“Look, you little fucker. You know what I mean.”

Al didn’t say anything but he didn’t have to.  The two stared each other down.

“Look Al, don’t fuck this up for us. Don’t bring the law down on us, alright? We finally have a good thing here.”

Al started to sound off.

Fred understood. “Yes, sure. I hate it too but you can’t kill off all the bastards. There are too many of them!”

“Still,” Al said. “That’s one bastard less.”

REMINDER, FOR THE RECORD: I WRITE TWO KINDS OF HORROR!

I write dark paranormal and Gothic romance as well as dark horror. 

The Gothic romantic fiction I write is combined with horror. This fiction is replete with tortured vampires, passionate sex and feeding. I believe vampires are wanton, highly sexual creatures and I depict them that way. Having said that, they are capable of deeply felt emotions. They are complex creatures. There are good and bad among them as there are among all beings.

With regard to the horror, it tends to be contemporary. I have all sorts of monsters, some human and some human-like. Serial killers, monstrous beings inside, don't necessarily look like what they are. That to me, is most scary.

ABOUT THE CLOWNS

Severe childhood abuse made the clowns the killers they became. This excerpt is about that.

"It wasn’t easy. Of the three, Happy was the most disfigured. His face displayed a roadmap of his horrendous childhood and young adulthood. It told the story of brutality and unimaginable violence.

Happy’s real name was Arthur Mundt—not that it mattered. The happy clown face he wore gave him his name. But was he happy? Nah. How could he be? He used to say the best he could do was try not to kill people.

Yes, his life had been too hard.

The clowns met in the Storeyville Orphanage in Georgia. The place was infamous for brutality.The cigarette burns had long since healed as they had on the others, but the scarring from razors and broken bottles was particularly bad. There was copious scar tissue which had turned deep purple. Jagged lines of it covered his face and ears, too. Poor fucker.

What Fred had pieced together about Happy was, he’d been living with hoboes after running away from home. Cops raided the shithole they were all holed up in and he got dumped at the orphanage as he was under twelve.

Noble and Danny had been turned over to the orphanage shortly after being born. No one told them where they came from. Their names were given to them by a doctor who liked to read. That was why they’d been called Noble Dickens and Danny Shakespeare, respectively."
