DO YOU KNOW OF DRACULA'S CONNECTION TO SATAN?

Yes! There is a connection with the devil! Anyone who doesn't think so hasn't read Dracula by Bram Stoker.

Before writing The Fourth Bride, I studied the novel, Dracula and I learned a great deal. I learned for instance, that the count attended a school in Scholomance in Transylvania where he learned the black arts. Bram Stoker includes an intriguing allusion to a mysterious devil’s school in Transylvania: The Draculas, he wrote, “had dealings with the Evil One. They learned his secrets in the Scholomance, amongst the mountains over Lake Hermanstadt, where the devil claims the tenth scholar as his due.”

The vampire himself was one of these scholars, a diabolic genius.

Now then, horror fiction is diverse as tastes are. Vampires are written a variety of ways, but one truth unites all of them. It is at the core of their being. THEY ARE DEMONIC CREATURES. They may be tortured and miserable, but they are what they are. If an author wants to dream up a different sort of being--fine. That might prove to be very interesting. But for now, please let me know that you understand that Bram Stoker who wrote the iconic novel, Dracula was writing him with a core connection to the devil. If you dispute that, you don't know what Dracula is really about.

Let the spins roll on, it's good for the vampire sub genre as long as we know what the original blood-sucking count was really about.

WHAT IF DRACULA HAD A FOURTH BRIDE?

Jonathan Harker approaches, from The Fourth Bride:

"I was terrified of discovery and since I rarely knew where the sisters were, I was worried, but my desire to find out whatever I could, drove me on.

I found an immense room; filled with Dracula’s presence. Book cases lined the walls, going from floor to ceiling. There was a great table piled high with books and papers. A smaller table nearby was crowded with maps and journals. There was a log book too. When I opened it, a paper slipped out.

There were copious notes on it, none of which meant anything to me, but then I read something about a ship called the Demeter. There were notations along the margins, but the writing was so cramped, I could not make out what it said.

As I turned to leave, I saw some letters. I picked one up and read the sender was one Jonathan Harker.

Mr. Hawkins has referred your enquiry to me and I look forward...

That was all I read, for I was certain I heard footsteps. I flew back to the chamber to await his arrival.

EROTIC SCENE FROM THE FOURTH BRIDE (OF DRACULA)

WHAT IF DRACULA HAD A FOURTH BRIDE? WHAT WOULD IT HAVE BEEN LIKE?

99 cents promo August 16 - 22!

I dreamt I heard soft murmurs all around me. It was not unpleasant for I was reminded of fairy tales and magical legends. I heard singing too; the sound of sirens perhaps. The songs were haunting, sad and beautiful all at once.

I saw three figures in the shadows. I reached out to touch them in my dream, and they came forward. “Sister!” they called.

Something cool yet comforting touched my lips. I opened my eyes to see a graceful hand lingering there. A woman was smiling at me. She leaned over and kissed me on the lips. And although her lips were icy, it was pleasing.
“Am I dreaming?”

She smiled. “Yes, some of it.”
“Who are you?”
She didn’t reply, she only took my hand in her cold one and kissed it. “ Dia...”
“How do you know my name?”
“The master told us.”

I was suddenly aware of other voices. Voices that answered in perfect unison. “The master,” they repeated until it sounded like a chant.

Then, in the soft glow of candlelight, I saw three women. They were strangely beautiful, garbed in long flowing white gowns. Suddenly they began to float up toward the bed ever so slowly, their fingers reaching out toward me as they called, “Sister.”

Were they ghosts or spirits from another world? Before I could ponder that question any longer, they began sweeping over me. I was frightened but thrilled at the same time, for there seemed about them the promise of joy and untold pleasure.

Their icy hands sought the top of my night gown, which they peeled away until I was naked. First one reached over and then the other two, each of them touching me.

“Mmmm.”

A soft sigh sounded in my ears as cool lips touched my neck.
“Beautiful.”

I moaned as the hands continued to sweep over me. Gentle yet persistent fingers probed my secret places—places previously unexplored—caressing and invading my body.

Lips replaced fingers. Icy lips, blue with undeath but soon to be reddened with life, my life—but I did not know then, that would be one of my very first lessons.

I felt two at my neck and one at my breast. Then I felt something sharp stab into flesh and nearly cried out but fell silent. For there by the fire stood a man. I could only make out that he was tall and slender. He moved toward the bed. Not to help me but to watch...!

At last I knew I was not dreaming. There were three women touching me and whispering as they did.

“Yes, now,” the man said.

Once again I felt their teeth upon my flesh. “We drink you and love you...”

It was only painful for a moment for when one bit me, another caressed me. And so it went on like that for an eternity it seemed.

I drifted away then, retreating into a warm place full of shadows, a netherworld so near the living one. How I wished to remain there.

In my mind I saw myself covered by three female figures and a male as well. I opened my eyes to see Dracula’s own burning like two red coals. I saw in their depths a new world I would soon be entering.

I watched as his mouth sought my neck and then my breasts. I felt the sharp sting of his teeth and the pressure of his suckling and drawing out of my blood. Yet, it was pleasurable and I wished him to do whatever he liked. There had never been a greater pleasure than this for me. I cried out in ecstasy.

After he fed he pulled away and in the semi dark I saw my blood on him. . “Beloved!” he cried. “Now you shall drink from me, for it is our wedding. I watched as he slit open his chest. “Drink and you shall never know death.”
And so I did.

I was thirsty and lapped it up. There was no wine sweeter than this; his own ruby port.

As I swallowed, I saw images of a life...a boy becoming a man. I saw battles and bloodshed, joy and sorrow. In the light and darkness of the visions appeared faces of creatures I could not identify. And then I saw the sisters calling out to me.

At first I thought I was still dreaming, but then I smelled their blood. “Sister, you are one of us now,” they said in unison.

I watched as they bent over me, each taking a part of me as though I were a feast set before them.

“They drink from your fountain for you are the new covenant. You are ours now and forever,” Dracula said.

The night was endless it seemed, and if there was pain, that pain would soon disappear and have pleasure replace it. Fathomless pleasure, the joy unending, for this was the beginning of the ritual of the blood.

“Love the blood,” he whispered. “The joy is in the blood...the passion is in the blood...endless life is in the blood...!”

I felt him mount me then. His eyes swept over my body before he took me in sight of the sisters, those who I would soon call the brides.
It was sometime later that I heard them whisper. “Dawn is breaking. Let us take her to the crypt.”
*
I slept the first sleep of the vampire there in the crypt. My eyes lighted upon the great caskets. The place smelled of rot and decay, yet it was pleasing to me as this place would always be my bedchamber.

Dracula carried me in his arms. “My wife,” he said. “Now, it is time to rest.”
I barely recall closing my eyes I only remember darkness and then the sound of the casket opening.

The crypt was full of shadows yet I saw a face peering into my mine. “Come, sister.”

Hands reached out and I saw the other brides. They sat me up and dressed me for I was naked. They giggled, too. “These are your wedding clothes. Now you are his forever as we are...”

Something struck me then. Something about their eyes. Though their lips spoke of love, their eyes reflected jealousy.

They told me their names in their soft yet strangely discordant voices. Now, I could see them quite clearly. I was surprised to see they all looked alike; truly they did look like sisters.

The most beautiful of the three spoke first. “I am called Verona the fair,” she said, touching her long blonde hair. “ These are Marishka and Aleera.”

As she said their names she began to touch them and they moaned with pleasure until they were all three naked.

Dracula looked pleased. “They love one another as they will love you, dear one.”
Though I didn’t wish it, I saw that he wanted me to go to them. “Please,” he said.
Their hands and lips were once again upon me, although now it was different. Now their touch hurt and I tried to pull away.

Dracula didn’t see my discomfiture for he had turned to leave the chamber.

“Come, it is time to feed,” he said. “Our world is the night and our sun is the moon.”
The sisters were right behind me. Their giggles sounded ominous. “Yes, to feed, Dia. To feed and to love...”

I watched them drift beyond the castle walls. And remarkably, I did the same—a thrilling and strange experience. It was a dark fantasy, what else could it be? And though I wondered about it, I did not care. Just to be enveloped in it was all I wanted.

The air was cold, yet I didn’t mind. I found it bracing. Never had my senses been as keen. I smelled pungent foliage and animals, too. And blood. Yes, tangy blood. Blood I wished to drink!

Dracula stood nearby and motioned me forward. He didn’t have to; the scent of human blood would have drawn me there. A man lay on the ground, not fully conscious.

“I have half strangled him,” Dracula said as he knelt down and began feeding. At last he glanced up. “He still lives; you may only feed on the living. Come, child.”
I did not hesitate; any sense of decency was gone. I was a wanton thing, a creature of the night in search of blood and little else.

He took my hand to guide it toward my lips. “Feel them,”
I felt my longer incisors and gasped.

He dipped his finger in the man’s blood. “Taste it.”

I sucked his finger with great hunger and relish. Divine. Then with joyful abandon, I bent down to feed. I fed voraciously because I was ravenous.

As I sucked forth the man’s blood, I saw his life. I saw the simple cottage of a peasant and a woman and children—his family. Yet though I saw these things, I didn’t care. It meant nothing to me. Only the blood and my beastly satisfaction were important.

I continued to feed and began to see different scenes, all having to do with the dying man’s life. When he shuddered, Dracula touched me. “You can take no more.”

I realized the man was dead, for the shuddering had stopped. And I cried because I wished more! Dracula shook his head. “You must never weaken. Never sup on the blood of the dead for if you do, your fate will be more horrible than you can imagine.”

I feared his anger and wrath, and I agreed. “I would never do that.”
“Others have,” he said. “Come, I will show you. But first,”—he smiled—“let us go to finish our feeding.”

The cottage was not far, the dead man’s dwelling where he lived with his wife and three children. The sisters were already there feeding on his loved ones who lay bleeding. They were crying out though for they were not yet close to death.
The sisters did not look up; they were too engrossed in their feasting. We joined them, although Dracula did not feed as long as the sisters.

This had become my world, and I was one of them. As I fed on one of the three children I saw her life, short as it was, flash through my mind. There was little to see for she had only reached a few years.

The mother held more interest for me. And though she was fading fast, I fed upon her and saw her childhood and maidenhood. I saw her wedding and her passion. I saw the love there, too. But because I was already a blood beast, I had no feelings of remorse.

We fed until they were no longer food but merely dead things, white and bloodless. We then returned to the castle where I was to have my first lesson.

“Come,” he said, as he led me past our crypts into a dank, dark antechamber. “I told you that you must never feed upon the dead for to drink a corpse’s blood is to invoke my fury!” The timbre of his voice made me tremble. “There, look upon that!”

He pointed to something in the corner. Massive chains dangled from the ceiling and from them hung a cage. He ordered me to look inside.

I gasped at the sight of the mutilated corpse of a woman. “I have preserved her so that others might learn.”

There wasn’t one part of her that was not mutilated. Her eyes were gone as were her features.

“That was not the work of rats,” I said. My reaction was to cry. I buried my face in my hands and wept. Not only was I frightened of him, but I felt desolate. “I do not wish to anger you, master.”

He swept me into his arms and took me upstairs, past my sisters, to a vast chamber. “This was a ballroom once. There was music and laughter, days long ago, the days of my living life...” He sounded sad yet proud of those days.
“Do you miss it?”

He looked surprised and stared at me for so long I feared asking him what I had and worried at his reaction.

But he sighed. “That which has gone before in a vampire’s existence must not be recalled, but must be banished from all thought. That is the price of endless existence.”

“I promise never to remember!”

He kissed my forehead and then my lips. And then he took me there and I gave myself up to him over and over. This was my world and I cared not for anything that had gone before. Nor would I change, of that I was certain.

He was my master and I was his devoted wife, his lover and slave, and I would be for as long as I existed. I would kill for him and die for him. I was his fourth bride.

A terrible truth took hold of me then. I wanted him for myself. If the sisters resented me, I resented them. Dracula was my lord and I would wish for no other. I would have my lord to myself!

A SATANIC DOLL MAKER!

From "The Devil's Work" which will be televised and broadcast on the web later this year.

"They called him the Great Carelli, master of magick and sorcerer extraordinaire. Carelli was a great showman and if that wasn’t enough, he was also a gifted toymaker. His dolls were much sought after. Sadly they were; sadly, because Carelli was also an avowed Satanist and had been for centuries.

“Bah! Satanism! They have it all wrong! The only true things are the pacts.” He recalled his own, made long ago in a cave in Europe; one of the many gateways to hell. Yes, those are genuine.

“I will serve you always Master!” There’s a hell of a lot of bright light and the shadowy figure of he who was known as Satan.

“Go forth and do my bidding.”

He did and he would. And why not? He’d live forever after all, not a bad trade off as he saw it. Besides, what was a soul worth? You go to church all your life and when you die you’re food for the worms. He couldn’t see it.

There was logic there and Satan was pleased.

“You will continue with your pursuits.”

And so he did, but instead of fashioning ordinary dolls he made magical ones; very special dolls he had blessed with his own breath, beautiful dolls to do Satan’s work. Well perhaps not that beautiful, it was the eyes. They looked as though they opened into hell with the glint of madness and depravity. Still, they appealed and that’s what counted.

And because circuses were always popular, he performed in them; it was a good way to spread the word through his little satanic gofers: his dolls.

Of course it didn’t always go smoothly; there were the Burning Times when many an innocent oddball came under the scrutiny of witch hunters. But bear in mind not all witch investigations were erroneous. They got some genuine witches, only they never got Carelli. No, Carelli continued on following his Master’s wishes, spreading evil wherever he could.

His dolls could be found wherever there was trouble, wherever humanity suffered terrible horror: war, famine, genocide—those were always big favorites with the dark side. Some things never change.

More recently, he was doing better than ever, travelling the American circuit. Yes, he liked America. Everyone wanted so much; they never seemed to be satisfied. Every apostate knew yearning and temptation often lead to damnation. Score another one for Satan.

As for Carelli, he loved his existence; he loved travelling around performing his magic, wowing the suckers with real magick. Oh hell yes, he actually made things appear, small animals mostly, little creatures that used to be called familiars. He wowed the folks with that.

Yet if he was special so was his circus. Well, any circus composed solely of demons is by its very definition unique..."

THE BLACKSTONE VAMPIRES ARE WAITING FOR YOU!

They are. All of them. Don't be afraid. Knock on the door of Blackstone House. That's your first step. Of course it might be your last.

ALL FOR $3.99! ACCLAIMED SERIES. VAMPIRES WITH BITE!

Book One, The House on Blackstone Moor:

Unimaginable horror awaits you in The House on Blackstone Moor... Rose Baines' journey into the dark begins with the murders of her family by her insane, incestuous father. Evil has found a way in, as has the world of the undead. Will she become one of them?

The horrific discovery causes her to be incarcerated in two madhouses. Doctor Bannion, superintendent of Marsh Asylum, helps his favorite patient obtain a position as governess at Blackstone House, but why is he so adamant? The house, her charges tell her, is built on haunted moorland. Nothing is as it seems for Blackstone House, and its inhabitants have hideous secrets; the greatest secret of all is that of the blood.

Amid the unimaginable horror there is love - which comes at a terrible price. The House on Blackstone Moor is the first novel in Carole Gill's Blackstone Vampires Series. It is an epic tale of the eternal struggle of good vs. evil, and a story of love that strives to prevail, despite all odds.

Excerpt:

"The air was still and somewhat warm. Low clouds hugged the horizon. There was thunder too from somewhere far away. I would have preferred to see the moors in the sunshine, for the moody atmosphere made it look grimly forbidding. Yet I didn’t wish to spoil the children’s fun.

“When you walk to town, go along through there—you see at the bottom of that cliff, there’s an old footpath there—too, you can’t miss it.”

I made a mental note of it, although I didn’t know when I might go.

The children both held onto me. “Mind your step.”

I listened, as they had already frightened me as to the moor’s dangerous conditions.

“And the weather changes so quickly, too.” Simon’s voice was grave. “Sometimes an entire herd of sheep have been known to perish!”

Ada shook her head. “Not so many as that, Simon; don’t be such a liar!”
Simon looked angry. “It’s true, I know it is so.”

“Well,” I said. “Whether it is or isn’t, I’m certain I shall be very careful where I tread.”

Each of them, it seemed to me, was vying with the other for my attention. Ada pointed out rocks and brush and Simon spoke of yet more doom and gloom.

Suddenly, they began to pull me forward. “This is the most fantastic thing you will ever see! Oh do hurry, Miss Baines!” Ada was most impatient.

Simon tapped her. “She will see it in her own good time.”

“What is it, children? What do you wish me to see?”

They exchanged mysterious looks to further dramatize the situation.

“Yonder, Miss! Do you want to see the ancient stone of legend?”

“What legend is that, Simon?”

Ada spoke up. “The legend of Blackstone Moor!”

They began to drag me then toward a rocky mount. “Just in here.”

I was led through a narrow crevice. It quite reminded me of Stonehenge. I wondered what it could be and began to grow excited, too.

Suddenly we stopped as Simon pointed at a large flat rock. “There, that’s it!”

It looked like a ledge that had been deliberately laid down. I went to touch it but Ada warned me. “Touch it only if you dare!”

“I dare!” I cried. The surface was far smoother than I would have imagined.

“See how black it is, Miss?”

“Quite black,” I agreed.

Simon nodded. “It’s as black as the eternal night! And do you know why it’s black, Miss Baines? It’s black with blood!”
“Simon!”

“Yes, truly! It has blackened with blood and gore and innards and guts and things that soaked into the stone!”

“What a thing to say! Where did you hear such things?”
“I just know! Ada and I both know!”

I drew him aside. “Simon,” I chided. “You should know better. This is not something either of you should think about, but it’s worse for Ada since she’s younger than you. You ought to know that.”

He looked down. “I suppose, but Ada’s older than you think!”

“Is she indeed, well I don’t think it appropriate, alright?”
“Yes, Miss Baines.”

“I don’t think it’s a subject for children. Besides, it’s probably not true anyway.”

He was agreeing with me, yet there appeared across his face the most quizzical look. “But there were human sacrifices practiced on these moors once and all manner of dark rites, too. Many people died here.”

This was making me feel sick.
“Who told you this?”
“No one.”
“Don’t lie, Simon.”

“Someone I can’t say…” Ada was watching him wide-eyed. Clearly she didn’t want him to give me a name, but I continued to press him.

At last he cracked. “Dora! It was Dora! Do you feel better now?!”

“It’s not that I feel better, I just wanted to know who told you such things.”

Ada looked at me intently. “Please, you won’t have Dora punished, will you?”

“No, of course not, but whatever do you mean?”

Ada shook her head. “She might be severely punished, that’s all.”

She quite unsettled me with that. But then I took it to mean she might be sacked. “Well, I shall only speak to her then, alright?”

“Oh yes, Miss. Thank you, Miss.”

I took their hands then and we headed back to the house, the children walking just ahead of me, whispering. And I watching their backs, wondering what they were saying."

Book 2, Unholy Testament - The Beginnings:

Rose and her children find themselves held captive on a ship staffed by vampires, overseen by the mad and evil demon Eco. The last time Rose saw Eco he tried to destroy the children, and now he tells her he loves her.

“I saw you leave the house that day, Rose. That terrible day you discovered your family butchered. I saw you…”
Eco, believing he has fallen in love with her, pens a confession documenting all sins he has committed during his immortal existence.

From Ancient Egyptian vampire cults, Roman vampire brothels, The Dark Ages, The Crusades, The Black Death of 1348, on to his meeting with the child murderer and Satanist Gilles de Rais, and concluding with his wicked, blood-soaked affair with the Blood Countess herself, Erzebat Bathory. The pages are filled with debauchery, vice and murder – how can one stained with so much blood and evil possibly be trusted?

Excerpt:

"As the girl had been drained and was of no further use, she had the corpse taken away and had another girl brought in, and another after that.

“This should get us through the night.” She smiled as she sank her teeth into the girl’s soft white flesh.

“Do you never drink the blood, Countess?” I asked.
She looked up with her blood stained teeth and smiled. “Never, or I should be a wanton vampiric creature and not the noble lady that I am.”
The irony of that remark did not cause her to smile, but made her look even wickeder if that was possible.

The hours passed and with them the barbarous torture of more young girls; girls that were bitten and stabbed. She had a variety of implements she used in her torture—like pincers that either she or a servant heated before their use.

Though I am ashamed to admit it, I must say the torture fascinated me. I could not move away, nor could I even turn my head.

Have you never looked at a train wreck or an overturned carriage? Most people have. There is, I fear, the beast in all of us."

Book Three, Unholy Testament - Full Circle

Rose and her childrens' ordeal continues. They are still held on a ship whose crew are vampires, overseen by the demon Eco.

There are more blood-drenched confessions to read. Rose has no choice but to finish the journal. Eco, mad and as unpredictable as ever, can snap at any time. But will he?

The rest of the journal tells of the sick and twisted obsession Eco has had for Blackstone House's former mistress, evil and debauched Eve Darton. There are aristocratic devil rites, both in England and France, including satanic sacrifices. There is the Great Fire of London 1666, plagues, vampire destroyers, witch hunts and resurrection men who supply a necrophile doctor.

The novel comes full circle as all the hideous secrets of Blackstone House are revealed, as are the reasons Rose’s father killed himself and his family.

Dracula is introduced, as is a child cruelly orphaned by the vampires. Dracula, the child’s dying mother says, has cursed her daughter and pleads with Rose to take her. Rose does, but what hope can the hopeless have?

Excerpt:

"At last we came to my lodgings. They weren’t bad as lodgings go, but clearly it was not up to her standards. Still, she said nothing. Her lips curved and she began to undress.

When she stood naked before me, I cried out: “You have the beauty of Venus.”
She giggled and drew me to her, her hoarse voice whispering to me. “I want you to taste me. I want you to make love to me with your mouth and your tongue. I am yours for this afternoon and after that, too, if you should like it.”

Oh, Rose, forgive me, for I shall not be too descriptive so as to offend your sensibilities. But truly, this was an experience I would never forget.

She would become my addiction. Yes, Rose—Eve would become a raging fever, an exotic disease I would contract and treasure. I never knew anyone—vampiric or human—like that. Insatiable, her desire knew no bounds, which only intrigued me more!

Sometime later, a wench poked her head in. She apologized but Eve invited her in. Actually, she did more than invite her in; she began to fondle the girl.

“You might as well know now, my love,” she said to me. “I like variety.”

I watched them for the longest time, and then joined in. Our lovemaking went on for hours. It wasn’t until the girl slept that I told Eve I knew what she was.
“You are a creature of the blood as I am.”

She didn’t ask me how I knew. She only smiled. “Let us feast on this girl,” she said. “And then I shall tell you about myself.”

Book Four, The Fourth Bride (of Dracula)

After the tragic and sudden death of her groom, Dia, cursed by Dracula as a babe, is taken to his castle.

Once there, she is seduced and turned by the count to become his fourth bride. The other brides are to be her sisters, but there is great rivalry as the brides compete for their master’s affection. Dracula takes Dia away, but to whose castle has he taken her and are they being watched?

Dracula’s gypsies are loyal to their master and will try to save him, but the destroyers led by Van Helsing come and there is great carnage. Still, for one, there is salvation from the unlikeliest of saviors. There is betrayal and a freak show run by evil men, as well as the greatest passion Dia will ever know, but can she trust it?

And what of Dracula’s greatest vampire enemy, the one who has fallen in love with Dia; the nobleman Dracula turned. Can he be trusted?

Excerpt:

99 CENTS FOR HALLOWEEN! WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU STAY AT THE WRONG HOTEL?

Two kids, just wanting to spend the night together, got to spend their last night together:

EXCERPT:
"They came, fed, and ate—terrorized and killed to their own beat. The sound of paper and plaster tearing now as the entire wall opened and thousands of pairs of little winged creatures began to fill the room. It didn’t matter anymore. He would soon be dead.

The vermin, now visible in bright daylight clustered together. They were joyous. Like happy pets they scampered and played with one another. Then they went back into the wall and the paper became whole again as if by magic..."

A SOLDIER DOLL THAT CRIES REAL TEARS?!

Excerpt:

"It wasn’t until the family left with their purchases that Hank sniggered. “Them’s real good toys,” he said. “Real good. One of a kind, you might say.”

He took his break before Fred did. Hank was a lot more sure of himself than he had ever been, what with his friendship with Joe.

Fred went about fixing up the place, putting things back where they belonged. Then, something called out—a faraway voice.

Fred turned but he was alone. He didn’t think anything of it until it happened a few more times. Had he looked at a toy soldier on the end bottom shelf he’d have seen the thing crying real tears..."
